OttL Session 30.5: RP roundup - New conduits, a shopping spree, and a change in plans

General Summary

RP Roundup

• The new crew member Redacted exchanges pleasantries with the crew.  Femtid immediately tells him that she has seen his face, which prompts an extended private conversation between him and captain Thaiva Phenol 
• Redacted is a drow, former follower of Lolth, and current member of Ouroboros.  He claims Ouroboros gave him a means to escape his old life.
• Natsu contacts Olidammara.  He can't walk on the Prime Material Plane, and furthermore can't scry on Natsu's position, but he finds a workaround and possesses a small cat to converse for him.
• Olidammara is annoyed he missed the wedding
• The cat says Lolth tricked Natsu in the other timeline.  The two had some sort of deal, and Natsu wound up as Lolth's pawn.  He says the current state of affairs is a "big improvement"
• Olidammara checks to make sure Natsu really wants godhood, but she is certain. 
• After the god leaves, the cat is still there.  Natsu adopts it and names it Biscuit.
• Femtid is badly hacking away at a training dummy when Thaiva Phenol and Natsu decide to help her learn.  She learns amazingly quickly.
• Caerbor Klaedris also spars with Thaiva Phenol 
• Femtid shows Redacted her rapier.  It is drow-crafted and appears to be enchanted.
• Biscuit is caught drinking booze
• Femtid has a heartfelt moment with Natsu where she relates a vision she had of the Einherjar refusing her entry into Vigrid.  That was the last vision she had; afterwards, her conduit seems to have changed.
• Femtid believes the reason she was learning so quickly from sparring is due to the new conduit
• The crew goes on a shopping spree.  Femtid gets new clothes and another rapier.  Natsu buys some diviner's dice.  Thaiva Phenol buys a new, glowy sword called a sun blade.  It is definitely not a lightsaber.
• They also go book shopping.  Femtid and Thaiva Phenol both get a wide selection of books.  Femtid buys some dirty ones written in undercommon.
• The merchant, Bookworm Kaiser, recognizes Hobbs.  He was a detective in a past life and had ordered a book from her and never retrieved it.  Only half was paid up front, so Hobbs pays a little more to have her hold onto it.  It is a tome of clear mind, and he owes another 1,295 gold before it can be obtained.
• On their return, the crew finds Amadeus and Memento Ipsum taking shelter on Barry the Airship.  They were attacked by fire elementals on the way to Stasterry and stopped by to rest and visit
• One book Natsu found was entitled "Snow White Queen", written by Faren.  It is about herself.

[lots and lots of prose here. And he overanalyzes them . He describes visions you had of several major military operations, and the accuracy with which you predicted troop movements. Then he goes on to spend three paragraphs talking about how the grey cat in a tree looking over the battlefield was clearly an allegory for him trying to become a knight]
[further in, he talks about more meaningful things. He says you predicted a plague in time for them to protect the village. Predicted a harsh winter over a year ahead of time. There is even one that looks like it is talking about brainweed.] [after a while, the visions even start to predict crimes. Villains are arrested before they even have a chance to decide to hurt anybody. Thefts are prevented. Drug rings broken up. that sort of thing] [then come the visions about your future relationship. Picnics next to a lake. Dancing under the moonlight. Romantic evenings in the sauna... more graphic things you elect not to read... and children. Three of them.] [Oddly, the children are never named. He only describes their faces.]
[One child in particular seems to scare him. He writes that the second son is "a shade of black dark as the abyss", and "possessed of a ferocity that should not be known to man". He becomes unusually vague in these descriptions, but he appears to be referring to "possession" in a very literal sense. "The monster inside our son shall lash out and destroy an entire village", or "The beast is fated to devour my father", and other ominous things of that nature]
[The spirits inside of us all shall burn the world, and we will be forced to watch.]

• Redacted goes mad trying to figure out how to fight the dragon.  Femtid "helps" by getting him drunk
• Femtid is sparring with Amadeus, who says she "fights like a cornered beast.  Hobbs thinks everyone is acting that way, and says he has a lot of concerns about the upcoming dragon fight.
• The rest of the group agrees, and they eventually decide the dragon fight is ill-advised and they should go to Esma instead.
• Natsu talks to Olidammara again to ask for help getting on the pantheon.  He ponders for a bit then says he will try to "set some things in motion" and catch up with her again on Saturday (six game days from this conversation)
