Session 5 Recap - "A Mother's Vengeance"

We last found our heroes on the dark side of Drak'thrun battling their way through a very unstable ice cavern. While there they encountered vampires who were very keen on keeping the halflings that the undead had plucked from their homes. The creatures never stood a chance as our heroes moved from room to room eventually finding the poor halflings chipping away at the icy walls. After freeing the halflings, they found a set of dragon eggs trapped behind powerful magic that were being used as hostages. The mother of these eggs was a Lunar Dragon who called herself Zenarra. A deal was struck to retrieve and return her children in which the party was successful. Unfortunately, Zenarra brought down an icy vengeance upon Drak'Thrun killing hundreds of innocent workers living in Sandridge Port. The port, destroyed and encased in magical ice, sits as a monument to the failures of the Terra Nova Mining Company.
Our revels now are ended
After returning with a fleet of ships, including a Flying Fish and a Scorpion, our heroes made way for the halflings on the Rock of Bral to report their success and collect the information Meradin Sandyfoot promised. She regaled them with a story of Korda Glintstone, a dwarf currently imprisoned within Revel’s End located on planet Toril. She explains that Korda was secretly working with Vocath to retrieve Spelljamming helms from Negoi pirates before being caught red-handed by the E.I.N.

Meradin confirmed that Korda has the key to get into Vocath's lair on her person. So the plan is to get the heroes as close to prisoner 13 as possible so they can find the key and use it against Vocath. Since the prison staff rotates out periodically, the halfling's thieves guild took it upon themselves to kidnap enough guards and cooks so our heroes could slip in with ease. By the next morning, a ship named "The Loyal Watcher" will leave the Rock of Bral and head to Toril. If our heroes so choose they will be able to board this ship disguised as prison staff and find prisoner 13. This is what they know so far...
  • Meradin stresses that they shouldn’t reveal they know Korda’s name. No one in the prison except perhaps the warden knows Prisoner 13 by her real name, so using it would only raise suspicion.
  •
  • Visitors can request meetings with prisoners, but those meetings are always supervised by the warden. If the characters want to talk to Prisoner 13, their best bet is to try when she’s not in her cell, hopefully out of sight of the guards. Prisoners do chores such as emptying latrine buckets and cleaning up after meals, and they exercise in the courtyard daily. When prisoners are injured or fall ill, they are taken to the prison hospital
  •
  • The cells, highlighted in red, are blanketed in permanent antimagic
  •
  • The doors and hatches are sealed with arcane lock spells that only prison staff can bypass. However, while the characters are within 100 feet of Revel’s End, the map allows them to use an action to touch the image of a door or hatch and suppress the lock on that portal. While a lock is suppressed, its image turns green. The lock remains suppressed for 1 minute or until another lock is suppressed.
  •
  • The yellow path marked on the map is the regular patrol route guards take. The usual patrol rotation is once every 20 minutes, but if the guards are suspicious, patrols will likely become more frequent.
  •
  • Meradin suggests having your crew fly in to pick you up. She notes to make sure you are not caught out in the cold for too long.
Will our heroes be able to sneak into Revel's End and find the key to the murderer Vocath's location? Will Luna ever let Chk-Chk into her mind? Is everything alright with Bellamy...do his eyes look a tad more crimson than normal? Find out next time on...
