Raven was born in the City of Shanai and grew up there. She spent most of her summers as a volunteer lifeguard alongside her childhood friend, Jon Sparrow, who she dated on and off again for much of her teens. She also occasionally dated Jon's best friend, Asher Burman, with no jealousy between them. Throughout her teens, Raven became known as a popular professional surfer in Shanai and was offered a sponsorship from a surfing league in the Republic of California that she quickly accepted. After moving to California she ended her relationship with Jon, due to the distance, and quickly gained fame and recognition as a championship surfer.
