Centuron

Centuron is the primary super-power on the planet Inora.

Centrally located and positioned directly under the magnificent crystal, the kingdom has ties and agreements with nearly every organization.

Structure

Centuron is an arcane monarchy. Founded by the first mortal magician, Marcus Balherd, it quickly grew and established lasting foundations. Its ruler is the King of the country and up until recently, the leader of house Balherd. The house leaders are nearly always magically adept. As non-magic users or even weaker ones are seen as less capable of managing the necessary concerns or issues of the house. The King has a council of 6 advisors, consisting of a mix of Lords, Ladies, Generals, Wizards, or other powerful or knowledgeable individuals. Members of this committee assist the King in managing different aspects of the country. As well as providing insight or additional points of view to important matters of interest.

Culture

Centuron, geographically speaking, is the center of the world. And the many Centronites have let that fact go to their heads. They rarely worry themselves of the issues within other towns in the surrounding lands of the kingdom, let alone those of any external regions. The capital is known as Solcity by the residents, because even when night has fallen the city remains bright and bustling. The people are often tense and wary however. Soldiers are a near constant presence within each city and town. As well, many patrol the commonly used roads. The soldiers claim their presence is to maintain the safety and well-being of the citizens, yet there are many hushed rumors of brutality, bribery, and other deeds of malicious intent.

Public Agenda

The kingdom has changed leadership recently. The King is Mark Balherd, but he is King in title alone. The individual who truly makes the decisions within the kingdom is a half-elf named Leonaith Adhana, who has been highly outspoken about their path towards peace. Crowned Adhana holds many forums where he can speak with the populace. All aimed towards building, how he puts it, a better world. Listening to the many issues or concerns citizens have. Oftentimes providing plans to support and rectify the arisen issues. Many citizens come to these forums looking for aid. Aid which Crowned Adhana provides, commonly until another official requires him to leave the forum.

History

Founded by Marcus Balherd, a human mortal, the first mortal who unlocked the ability to weave and manipulate the energy binding the universe. Aided by two other magically adept humans, they ended the ever-present fight for the magnificent crystal. Beneath the floating mountain at the center of the world, on top of the war-torn, blood-soaked peninsula Marcus Balherd, Elliot Ruldo, and Theodore Parbarth halted the battle and rejuvenated the land.   The peninsula and adjoining lands had many tribes scattered throughout. All vied for control over crystal, despite none understanding a shadow of its power. Marcus gathered those beneath the colossal crystal and began developing a settlement. Utilizing and showcasing his magic; hastening the colony's development. Word quickly spread of this new community, drawing the attention of the neighboring tribes.   Early on, many of the tribes attempted raids on Centuron. However they were ultimately all defeated by the three magicians. After fending off multiple tribes, the adept triad decided to be proactive. Elliot and Theodore ventured off into the surrounding land, heading in opposite directions. They spread the word of Centuron. Welcoming those who sought a safe haven from the dangers of the wilderness. Warning those who threatened the opposite. All the while Marcus accepted the immigrants and further grew the kingdom.   As Centuron grew a small percentage of the populace began showing signs of magical adeptness. Marcus gathered the adept and established a school where he began training the residents. It was quickly realized that the magnificent crystal was somehow tied to the magical energy they wielded. In addition to the training of their own abilities, the adept analyzed the crystal. Learning more of the land, world, and universe as a whole. The school grew as Centuron's population did, eventually being named Mount Arcanis. A name many Centronites used interchangeably for the school and crystal.   The kingdom of Centuron grew to encompass the peninsula and the land in greater continent. Only barred by a snow-covered mountain range, and a large river of mountain runoff leading into the greater ocean. Many smaller towns and settlements were developed in these lands. Growing, albeit more slowly, alongside the capital under the crystal.   As the kingdom grew, King Balherd became increasingly occupied with the affairs of state. While Elliot and Theodore were primarily teaching at Mount Arcanis. The adept triad who founded and accumulated the masses drifted apart over the years. Eventually leading to the triad's disbandment. Elliot trekked westward to where the sun sets, while Theodore sailed east to find the land the sun touches first each morning. Establishing the kingdoms of Ekivaria and Capstone respectively.   Despite the triad's dissolution, the three kingdoms made a conscious effort towards cooperation. Setting up trade routes and business deals that led to mutual construction. The kingdoms prospered for years. Until a fateful night in the Ekivarian capital that led to the Stone War. A war of Blood and Stone which ravaged the lands of both Ekivaria and Centuron. A demon known as Brakal sought to conquer the mortal lands and seize control of Mount Arcanis. Through valiant efforts the demon and its army was defeated. Ahtan, the Worthy, vanquished Brakal but was petrified in the process. Standing guard at the gates of Solcity for eternity.   The Stone War left Centuron in near ruin, and the people were a mere remnant of their former strength. But the devastation gave way for newfound knowledge. Mount Arcanis studied the demonic remains. Discovering new powerful elixirs and spells. There were numerous attempts to de-petrify Ahtan, but none were successful. All the more, the people of Centuron were determined to reclaim their land and rebuild their lives. The population began to replenish and the towns grew larger than ever before.   King Balherd led the reconstruction. Emphasizing the importance of focused collaborative effort. However, the King was growing more elderly. King Balherd sought to develop the infrastructure to support a lasting kingdom. His Wisdom brought upon many programs and organizations, specifically the Advisory Council, Court of Overseers, and Crowned Order. Each a subsidiary to the crown. Tasked with aiding the development and construction of the kingdom.   The people, however, were worried and concerned for their safety. They had witnessed one of the horrors of the universe. While many sought for strength in unity, some undercut larger goals in favor of furthering their own security and power. Vagrants driven by greed ventured towards war-torn ruins in search for relics, gold, or other items of value. Charlatans deceived masses and evaded punishment. The growing kingdom became much for the old king to govern. Fearing unfit to justly rule over the presiding lands old King Balherd abdicated his thrown and crowned his son Eldwin.   King Eldwin ruled in his father's place. Receiving council and guidance from the oldking. While the crown rested upon Eldwin's head, the power of the kingdom still rest with Marcus. With the oldking's guidance, Eldwin made strives to root out the growing corruption and dissuade the concerns of the people. But much of it was for naught by the time the oldking passed. Soon after Marcus the Uniter moved on from Inora, the charlatans became bolder in their endeavors. Lords claimed large swathes of the wartorn land and began paying of soldiers of the crown to protect them. Would-be soldiers turned mercenaries in the ever growing Lord armies. Some Lords fashioned themselves kings of their own land, often ignoring the summons from King Eldwin. The wealthier generally being the larger culprits.   It had been many years for some Lords since they last saw King Eldwin. It was only the birth of the King's son that brought them back. The new prince was named Mark Balherd after his grandfather. Each Lord payed their respects and best wishes to the King. To which King Eldwin attempted to reinforce the authority of the crown. Many quickly swore fealty, however some were less than forthcoming. All swearing their loyalty eventually. King Eldwin continued attempting to maintain the kingdom his father united, while also raising his son to someday take the throne. With the King's attention split, some Lords began enacting laws over their land; taxes were raised and soldiers were given the ability to use any desirable force to claim them. All the while participating Lords made efforts to hide these practices from the crown.   Years passed and the Lord Assembly's practices remained largely hidden. King Eldwin discovered few instances of corruption but was unsuccessful in unveiling the larger organization. The King grew more suspicious however. For Prince Mark's coming of age celebration, King Eldwin organized a tour throughout Centuron. A tour that would introduce the many Lords and Ladies to the youthful prince in the hopes of finding a sutor. This also gave opportunity for the King to continue investigating. As the tour moved from town to town and Prince Mark met many potential spouses, King Eldwin quietly dispatched inspectors to find any evidence of his suspicions.   The inspectors were stalking the air. While few had made direct contact, the Lord Assembly were aware of their actions. Inspectors began stirring up trouble. The areas surrounding the tour started having altercations. The jovial festivities soon became filled with strife. In the town of Wolfwater, north east of Refuge, assassins made an attempt on Prince Mark's life. It was only by grace of fortune that Leonaith Adhana was bystander to the altercation. Adhana was the only son to the noble family of Mythward, a smaller town even than Wolfwater. Lord Adhana was sent to represent his family in the festival because the tour would not pass through their own town. Lord Adhana defeated Prince Mark's assailants, saving his life. The Prince offerred whatever Lord Adhana desired. Which Adhana said was to do their duty and protect the people of Centuron.   Prince Mark requested Adhana stand by his side, provide counsel, and continue to live honorably like that of the Attained. Adhana accepted and quickly showed prowess and ferocity in matters of the crown. Crownedguard Adhana became a force of the Prince's will. Primarily seeking out those who made the attempts on his life. The shadows of the Lord Assembly were not favorable of this increased scrutiny. Adhana had grown a following of fellow guardsmen and soldiers. They were fiercely loyal and tasked with rooting out the shadows and bringing them to justice.   Meanwhile, King Eldwin attempted to calm the masses from inciting further conflict. A group of Centronites who witnessed and heard tale of the attempt on the Prince's life were strong proponents of demolishing the Lord Assembly. Others, however, remembered tales of blood and stone and had no desire for further conflict. King Eldwin tried to appease both sides and maintain collaborative efforst like his father would. The King took a more active role with the public. Holding open discussions where citizens could voice concerns that would be heard by the individuals who could make a difference.   Concerned for his father's safety, Prince Mark tasked Crownedguard Adhana with securing these discussions. Many crownguards were assigned with escorting the King to and from discourses. Most of which staying for the full time. The staging areas would soon get crowded with people. Each attempting to be heard. The crown was rarely able to hear from every single attendee, but it made sure to listen to the widespread issues first. The discussions were effective in making, albeit slowly, positive improvements for most. That is until Lord Assembly servants began attending with a primary objective of instigating violence. Altercations started breaking out and the crownguards were forced to intervene. The first few were manageable and the involved parties were separated and removed from the discourse.   Discussions continued to be held but with increased security. King Eldwin attempted to foster order and progression, but as Adhana's soldiers were encroaching further on the Lord Assembly they became bolder in their efforts. During one of the open discussions, Lord Assembly servants incited a riot of the attendees. Many people fought and died, but during the commotion a shadow slipped past the guards and stabbed the King in the heart. Adhana witnessed King Eldwin collapsing on the stage and rushed to his side. Gathering other guards, they rushed back to the castle for a healer from Mount Arcanus. They were too late however. Despite the best efforts of the precipitic wizard and fellow archmages, the King could not be revived.   Prince Mark barged into the room, charging past each and everyone. Eventually collapsing besides his father's lifeless body. The advisors and witnesses nearby stood on, unsure of what to do. Crownguard Adhana, however, reached over lifting the crown from Eldwin Balherd's head and placed it upon King Mark's. Soon after, King Mark appointented Adhana as the Crowned Commandant. The individual directing the crown's forces. Over the next few years, King Mark became more and more of a recluse. Hiding away in the castle, obscured to the public eye. Crowned Adhana, on the other hand, became a more prominent public figure. He continued the free discussions the former King had started. Often inviting individuals to come atop the stage to ensure they'd be heard.   Crowned Adhana also increased efforts in rooting out the Lord Assembly. Crownguards and soldiers would be seen throughout towns and along roads in search for any sign of treasonous or avaricious intentions. Rumors quickly spread through Centuron of the soldier's increased presence. Many of which spoke of brutality and unjust imprisonment. Residents were taken to appear before court justices, often being harmed in the process and rarely being compensated for their troubles. Individuals who were suspected in aiding the Lord Assembly were beaten, arrested, and executed. Not necessarily in that order. Those who were proven collaborators or members of the Assembly were seized. Their belongings were repossesed by the crown and they were taken to face the Crowned Commandant.   Despite this internal conflict, many Centronites continue to just go about their lives. Few subsets of residents make efforts to advance either the Lord Assembly or Crown's goals. While the majority has remained largely indifferent as long as they've remained, mostly, undisturbed. The horrors of the Stone War became remnants to most. Tales that were largely left to the pages they were written. However the veil of the universe has been pierced before, and some fear that it will be opened again.

Demography and Population

There are roughly 1,000,000 to 1,300,000 Centronites of many differing races.   Whose demographics make up as follows:
  • Human - 18%
  • Elven - 16%
  • Dwarven - 11%
  • Halfling - 7%
  • Gnome - 7%
  • Drakkic - 6%
  • Tiefling - 6%
  • Other* - 29%
  • (*Entities who identify as a specific race and whose racial population comprises of 2% or less of the total population.)
The cities and towns in the lands surrounding the capital skew the population density towards Human. Whereas the population spread within the capital, Solcity, is nearly equal among all races.

Together, we can progress.
