Nithza

Nithza is a town on the Arduli-Qamenkas border. It is located within the Praetorate of Zaspira, and is named after the adjacent Citadel Nithza.

Government and Defences

The female Aarakocra Exarch Qhalleck E-Salis, who also leads Citadel Nithza, is the leader of the town of Nithza. However, because of her station running the citadel as well as the town, she passes some of the responsibilities of administrating Nithza to her clutch-brother Pasha Rala E-Salis. Nithza has been overseen by the members of the aarakocra House of Salis since its incorporation.   Nithza is defended by the nine allagia stationed at Citadel Nithza, as well as its own small force of Asteramlioi.

Commerce

Nithza was founded primarily as a logging town harvesting timber from the nearby Staurakius Woods. In addition to its trade in wood and wood-based products, it also has a small claim to fame in the industry of leatherworking, thanks to the Nymph's Mill.

Geography

Nithza is located on the Arduli-Qamenkas border, within the Praetorate of Zaspira. The Green River runs along the west of the town, and Staurakius Woods are to the north of it. Both the Four Forts and Kenphatis Dynastic Roads run through Nithza. The eponymous Citadel Nithza is located southwest of the settlement. Landmarks in Nithza include:
  • The Dawn's Draughthouse - a tavern run by the male tiefling Zerakos Nemani. Unlike many other taverns throughout Diaghal, he has no rooms that he can rent. Business is slow for him, usually coming from travellers through the town rather than locals.
  • Garden Grove - a coffee house and inn run by the elderly female tiefling Jezebeth Zakaria. Assisted by her grandson Morthos, she has a dim view of those who drink alcohol, which is encouraged by her religiosity. She will refuse to sell rooms to those who are intoxicated.
  • The Nymph's Mill - a bark mill on the Green River used for leatherworking by the Naiad Ahinar. They were originally an elf who wished to be bonded to the river after they died during the Tyfilian Empire. She has some skills with artifice of leather and woven clothing.
  • Whistle's Blade - a carpenter's and woodcarver's shop run by the female Gachikki gnome Luthra Whistlehold. While mostly occupied with local work, she is more than happy to sell weapons and ammunition to travelling adventurers.
  • The Green Sanctum - an Niranist church overseen by the bugbear archimandrite Suda of Nithza. He is somewhat known for his prejudice view of other faiths.
  • Paper & Ink - a scribe, mapmaker, and painter's shop run by the male Rathin Aasimar Casian Moonfeather. A former member of the Amrithesite Orders, Casian retired to follow his passion with illustration. His maps of Qamenkas are famous among travellers for being some of the most beautiful.

History

Nithza began as a collection of lumberjack homesteads set up near Fort Nithza in order to protect them from Uxingier's attacks while they harvested timber from Staurakius Woods. It was more officially declared a town during the reign of Shah Nija I.
