2023/05/31: Consolidation Report

General Summary

Zenogovia adventure consolidation

Senal, Albadan, Giordino, Marc, Union, Thalin   Loot distribution after the adventure on Zenogovia. Giordino took a malachite orb of ferocity, Albadan got the serpentine orb of healing, Union may have gotten the imp's green garnet of misdirection magic, Zonoma got the winding twisted pyrite conch of dimensional confusion, Senal got the chrome diopside of focusing, Marc cot the hiddenite oval of mystic concealment, and Thalin got the tsavorite garnet. They also split the money they'd recovered.   That done, the party dispersed.

Intermission

Figuring out what to do next. Plot list, again: Allen plots: Power-level Allen so he can do the teleport ward Avalon: use money to hire an army to retake his kingdom Knight: free god in crystal Senal: get last gem Main plots: Necrosa, Thesk (kill Draconis), Greylands (kill demon-infused humans in steampunk settings) Terana: Save Humphery's reputation in spelljammer. There's a bard trying to enhance Terana's reputation by trashing Humphery's. Union: Mythium and Blythe Spelljammer: Lich causing problems (mostly dealt with already). Side plots: Muppet pirates are somewhere.   One additional option for trying for Necrosa: Try to find a method of tracking her links or spirit or consciousness so we can spring it on her and find her various bits when she next pops up.   There are some concerns about the true motivations and details of the goddess in the crystal. We want to look into why she was sealed away, what her civilization was like, and so on. Make sure it's safe to get her out.

The Shadows of Existence hunt for Necrosa

Knight, Zaran, Union, Buzz, Lillith, Kal'vus   Knight called around to find who was available, both those already planning to hunt down Necrosa and those who might be interested. Ba'alzamon wanted to join, but was busy for the time being. Buzz got sent by will of Chaz-Achk-Thuum. Apparently some of Necrosa's minions are active on Solace, another plane.   Knight teleported to Castle Fallingstar to join the others. It's a big gothic scary castle. There's an invisible bridge leading across to the castle. Lots of varied races there. Lots of adventurers. Lillith just walked over. Zaran teleported in. Union walked through dimensions to arrive thanks to his slippers. Kal'vus, a former god who has been adventuring around and trying to get his powers back, ran into Lillith and Buzz and heard they were going after Necrosa, so he enthusiastically invited himself in.   The party convened in the adventurer bar, The Rook. Some goblins were on the stage, competing in a battle of the bands. The music wasn't bad, but it was mostly good for the comedy. Slow day, only about 30 people in the bar. The bar is very large, though, with two floors. There's apparently a little pixie bar up in the rafters, where they mostly serve leftovers and cast-offs from the meals downstairs.   The only godslayer currently in attendance is Habet, the godslayer of water and chaos. She wields a triple meteor hammer, basically three spike-covered sticks at the ends of giant chains.   The Fist of Ranthael is on the second floor, talking to a bunch of other Alvidarian adventurers. Zaran paid extra for a meal, as usual, and then ate the entire metal plate. There's a really hot red-headed elf walking around, talking to various adventuring groups. Lots of elven hunters and ranger types are around, all trying to loom in the corners at the same time. There's a small pink-haired girl arguing with the bartender about drinking ages. There's a dark-skinned woman with spiky black armor that some may recognize as coming from the Odar (sp?).   Lillith went to talk to Calantha (the red-headed woman) and the various rangers. Brarg, a random barbarian, recognized the two wandering ladies and remembered their statues. He might or might not have gotten their autographs, but he definitely won the argument with his friend over who they were.   Apparently there are weird mechanical spider things and grey-skinned monsters in the west that the rangers have been dealing with. Sounds like Necrosa tech.   Azhar left Buzz to his friends and went to do her own job, bringing food to Orb (past all her deathtraps).   Zaran ate a ruined shelf. Paid 10 gold. Everyone else got more normal meals. Knight and Kal'vus got into an inadvertent staring contest between mostly silent characters.   Lillith got the introductions started. Kal'vus just gave his name and said he was happy to meet everyone. He seems very friendly and just happy to be there. Union only realized introductions were happening after everyone else had already gone; he was busy drinking.   Kal'vus is a sword monk. Very physically strong. Wields a katana in two hands. He has a great desire for vengeance against Necrosa, and few other major pastimes.   Godslayer Habet has purple hair and eclectic, brightly colored clothes. Orange shirt, green greaves, some other things. As a former experiment of Necrosa's, she says Necrosa is very smart, very dangerous, and very annoying. She thinks the best counter-options are getting someone similarly dangerous and annoying mad at her, or using chaos. She doesn't deal with chaos and associated weirdness too well.   There were other corporations on Solace that weren't fond of Necrosa. As in, if you walk into any large business on Solace and ask around, you'll probably get a good start. About a third of the surface of Solace got destroyed in the orbital bombardment meant to kill Necrosa, so a lot of businesses are gone, but there are still at least some megacities.   Kal'vus and Habet got to chatting about killing dire corbies. Habet also offered to help out on the quest against Necrosa. The party gladly accepted.   The party considered waiting for the other godslayers to come back from patrol, but decided that it was unlikely to yield additional information. They instead set Solace as their next destination, riding to New Hallownest first to use Knight's scrying mirror. They rode on a giant six-legged silvery horse that Lillith summoned. Armored, muscular, has a Romanesque crest on his head. Supposedly Sleipnir's cousin once removed.   They encountered a cart of elves holding off a bunch of dire corbies and an abomination with eight arms and a sort of melty face. About 40 dire corbies already dead, but they're getting closer to the cart. Knight, not wanting to dive right into melee against an unfamiliar threat (and also wanting to test a new item) used the Key Staff of Runes to summon a shocking wall between the cart and the attackers.   Lillith cast a prayer and then summoned a volley of arrows against the hostiles, killing some of the dire corbies. Buzz saw some of the dire corbies breaking around the lightning wall towards the cart, and another group breaking for the party. He responded by summoning a full igloo of stone around the elven party, forcing the corbies to go through the lightning wall to get to them. Union, seeing the horribly disturbing abomination and its apparently multiple connected spines in motion, decided being unnoticed was the better part of valor and literally faded into the background via concealing amorpha.   The abomination slowly drove one of its fists through the lightning field, electrocuting itself and even setting itself on fire before the field finally ran out of electricity and the spell failed.   The army of charging dire corbies were met by a similarly angry kenku with a katana. His bladedance carried him through the mob, slaughtering 27 of the 30 of them. Habet leapt off the horse, extending her meteor hammer and adjusting the chains with her arms and legs as she flew. The three remaining dire corbies were summarily flattened. Habet landed in a bush.   Knight continued testing the staff, calling in a wrath of the heavens on top of the abomination. A rain of electric meteors smashed down on it, blowing a hole in the forest canopy and singing the edges, but not managing to bring down the beast. Lillith followed up with an incandescent beam to similar effect.   Buzz flew up into the air, clicked his stopwatch, and unleashed a barrage of soulfire-enhanced magic missiles at the remaining horde of dire corbies. They died to the last as they scrabbled over the top of the stone dome.   Kal'vus did a driveby attack against the abomination, slashing it to the bone but not slowing it down in the least. As it turned to pursue him, it was caught in a floating whirlpool that Habet summoned on top of Kal'vus. Kal'vus got out with only a bit of battering. The abomination did not, and found itself trapped in the magical equivalent of a washing machine. Knight took this opportunity to test the effect of the ray of sunset, which set the monster on fire even inside the whirlpool. Lillith finished the job of chopping it into useless pieces.   Buzz disintegrated a hole in the bunker large enough for the cart to escape and then used stone shape and some other spells to turn it into a proper rest stop. The elves promptly went on their way. Lillith reported in to the king, telling him about the attack and asking for recommendations; he had been getting other reports of dangers in this general area, but he's not sure what to do about them yet. Lillith summoned a wagon while Knight got to collecting abomination bits, and the party set off to deliver the remains to a mage who could properly inspect them.   On the way, the party passed a group of four large bears going the other way. They didn't bother the party. There were some suspicions that they were druids or nature priests, especially since they seemed to be searching for something in a squad pattern.   Party dropped off the corpse bits with some elves and carried on.   When they reached Lillith's grandparents, they were informed that there were some weird imps nearby recently. Lillith and Knight tracked them down via magic seeking. Buzz trapped seven of the eight in a tree with a rain of bubblegum missiles. Knight tried to catch the escaping last with entangling void tendrils, but it promptly died as soon as one made contact. Apparently they barely have enough awareness and sense of self to tell the difference between themselves and a table next to them. Or at least that should be the case. And it left a corpse rather than dissipating.   The party was welcomed into the house. Baking cookies scent. Big Asian dragon outside, breathes fire occasionally, friendly and lives in a big doghouse. Plays with iron golems sometimes. There's a party of interdimensional mercenaries on the front porch. Very welcoming place.   Lillith's grandfather is one of the top two experts on magic items. He's shorter than Lillith is. He has an overall rumpled look, flyaway eyebrows, grey hair.   For Nadira info, talk to Ion Rathe, Alvidarian dragons predating Nadira's death. Teritheid, ancient bronze dragon. He usually lives in the wilderness in a little shack. Old guy with weathered skin, blond/whitish hair, very tan (bronzed, even).   While the grandfather and Habet got to scrying on a target location in Solace, the rest of the party excavated the imps from the tree and stuck them in ensorcelled boxes.   The scrying pointed mostly to a big old city that the grandfather said he thinks was created by an Old One civilization long ago.   The party teleported to the city. They found themselves in a smelly, narrow side alley that was filled with several feet of packing peanuts. Outside, the buildings rose way up into the sky. In the narrow strip the party could see, dragons flew by. The buildings were hundreds of levels high. Street vendors sold strange things under neon signs. It was Cyberpunk mixed with Shadowrun and high fantasy.   The entire city is built inside an ancient Old One artifact. For those capable of detecting ambient magic, the magic level is even higher than that on Renedge.

Notes

Apparently the dream naga queen and the Lord of Nightmares were siblings? There were hints in-character, but it's unclear whether any of the characters figured it out.   One of the godslayers is now human, married, and living in Vetrakus. She wields a two ended sword "tuning fork" weapon, so it actually has four blades.   Lillith has a high-pitched voice.   Lillith's cart is apparently a magic item that can turn into a cart, a small house, or a treasure chest.
