Zaran is a giant crystal sunset dragon with extensive experience as a psion, wizard, and "cleric". (He isn't technically a cleric. He doesn't worship or gain spells, but is instead a power outlet for the dragon overgod Io, which has similar effects to cleric abilities.) He has an ice and metal shard "death breath" breath weapon.   When he uses Elf Rage to take a smaller elven form, his outfit is seriously clashing, possibly including a kilt.

Personality Quirks

Zaran's sanity is... questionable. This was by no means helped by his reading part of the Tome of OHAM, a sanity-sapping artifact that contains the reality code for Renedge. Zaran regularly forgets or simply doesn't know where he is, which can only partially be blamed on his tendency to vanish from reality unpredictably and only sometimes come back in the same place. His reactions and opinions can be unpredictable and eccentric. Despite all this, he remains remarkably functional as an adventurer.

Zaran has his hoard stored safely in another dimension. Among its contents is the Stone of Ur, an artifact of exceeding power and age, though its effects are not entirely clear.
