Eltan

Doom Bringer, Furyborn, Werefather

Eltan is the gottan of sky and storms, son of the gottir Thalkun and Thera. All Jolnir pay homage to Eltan, especially those who live near the sea and on the open plains. He is viewed as fierce and short tempered and will not hesitate to strike down those who offend him with his lightning spear, Smitar. He is known to be the patron gottun of the Hverskepnir, those who are able to take on bestial forms and who are said to be his children by the gottyan Skulta.

He is represented by images of branching lightning, often found tatooed with splinters of lightning struck wood onto the backs or cheeks of sailors, especially sea raiders.
