Huepilzantl

The Dark Dancer, Grandfather Night

Huepilzantl, or Yuum Cho'och in Chol'ak is the teotl worshipped by those who live by their wits or who find themselves in desperate situations of their own making. Calmaxtec performers, merchants, thieves, gamblers and beggars all make offerings to Huepiltzantl.

He is normally represented as a crow, a crow-headed man, or a man with three tongues, two extra eyes and ears and long fingers. Altars are found everywhere from gambling dens to the homes of wealthy Calmaxtec merchants. He is the dual patron, with the deva Durgan, of the Quicksilver Syndicate and has his largest temple in Mianej.

His worship is barely tolerated in many Kalmasan Samraj cities and the more conservative members of the United Temples argue that he should be proclaimed a mahanara and his worship banned. However the rich donations received by the Temples from the various merchant associations keep this sort of talk on the fringes.
