Hroth

Hroth was the captain of the militia in Hommlet and the father of Elmo and Otis. He has lived in Hommlet all his life with his wife Ivy and is one of the few folk in town to have lived through the events of the original rise of the Temple of Elemental Evil. Hroth fought in the Battle of Emridy Meadows and was awarded a prized sword by the crown for his bravery.
After the days of peace returned to Hommlet, Hroth resumed a life as a farmer and headed up the local militia as its captain. Hroth would work the fields during the day and run drills with the younger members of the militia in the evenings. He had issues with Burne whom he felt was undermining the traditional way of defending the village by with his mercenaries. He also is superstitious about those who wield magic and this only furthered his acceptance of the conspiracy running through the leadership of the village. He is folksy and friendly to newcomers and given that his house is the first leading into the village from the west he often makes it a habit to greet visitors.
He participated in the attack on the renewed Temple of Elemental Evil in 591 CY, giving his talents with a sword to defend his home one last time. He died during the collapse of the Temple after Zuggtmoy's defeat, having been struck by a piece of wreckage. His body was brought back to Hommlet and we was buried next to the plot of his lifelong friend and fellow militia member, Sami.
