The Gauntlet

Shin, Vishara, and James (Baolin) Targyn get kidnapped and forced to participate in a twisted game known as The Gauntlet. Their captors would become the main antagonists for the "Assembly of Grim" campaign. See: The Life of Allak, The Life of Zhalsuth, and Salethar

The Gauntlet is run as a series of gladiatorial combats fought in teams of three. Allak put it together to test out effective methods of collecting souls for the assembly's ultimate goal- resurrecting their patrons. Salethar supported the idea while Zhalsuth found the proceedings to be frivolous. Allak made sure to only include humans, but in the past, this small island was used to settle disputes between opposing authorities in order to avoid war. The group (Shin, Vishara, and James) managed to pass every round, killing all others in the process. In the third round, James ensured it would be a 3v1 by sabotaging their opponents. Even with the advantage, the group was badly injured by the end of the fight.   Note: Shin was taken by Allak himself from atop his mountain, James was taken from his poison shop in Feyreach by one of Allak's specialty squads, and Vishara was taken from his fishing boat off the coast of Koledo by Zhalsuth's Royal Guard.   For the backstories of each player character, click the appropriate name:   Shin Tenma aka Oni   James Targyn aka Baolin   Vishara
