Ikoma Haineko
Haineko was gifted with a height that dwarfs most men in Rokugan, bright red hair, sapphire eyes, and a thirst for glory that cannot be quenched. She won her Topaz Championship Gempukku, and, more importantly, decided that day that she would marry a crane woman, consequences be damned.
Haineko was raised primarily by her father, Ikoma Junnosuke, who instilled in her a respect for honor and combat, but also a bullheaded impatience that meant she didn't like it when the rules she was supposed to follow weren't rules she wanted to follow. This proved to be his undoing when she met a girl at the Topaz Championship and that girl was Doji Hitomu. He tried to course correct her after she came home in love, tried to mouth the hypocritical words of 'duty' and 'responsibilities' and mostly managed to annoy her and get in a fight.
A fight he won, to her irritation. Her father should just get old and useless so she could beat him up properly when he said stupid things, she thought to herself.
It was never explicitly decided who was going to end up the next Clan Champion, but Haineko had put those hopes away when she met Doji Hitomu. Certainly, love was more important than status. Her mother was disappointed in her, but her father couldn't help but fight back a smile. Her luck, though, changed immediately when her brother pulled the same stunt, stubbornly refusing the marry anyone but an Utaku woman, of all the people!
Everyone knew that Utaku didn't marry out of their family name. To do so, he'd have to give up his own!
And he wouldn't back down, so the only option for Clan Champion was her again.
When her father retired, she raised an army. She showed up on her wife's doorstep with a threat for her family and a proposal for her. After they were married, and Hitomu had kids, she showed up on her brother's doorstep with a similar aggrandized threat for his sperm--it was the closest thing to being able to have children with her wife, so she wasn't gonna let him say no.
She and her wife gave birth to 2 girls and 1 boy.
