Description
Dean Kianne taught Computational Magic 101, covering theory on how to have a keen mind, observe your surroundings and eventually conjure a fractal. She does not label the substances in the lab classroom, and instead has them organized to her own specifications.Year 1 Involvement
Dean Kianne took on the additional workload of the missing Dean Imbraham. This led to significant overwork, and is the reason she gave for why her Computational Magic 101 class, including Gary and Mistake, caught her asleep at her desk behind an illusion on the first day of class. Gary sought her out for potential mentorship, but she rebuffed him and tried to pass him on to Professors Adrix & Nev instead. Gary was persistent, however, and she eventually gave him a one-time-use pass to the Alchemy Labs to get rid of him. Like Captain Dapplewing, she insisted from the start of the year to the end that there was no such thing as the Oriq. She insisted this to Larine early in the year, and later on when Larine tried to share the warning her father had given her. This was the first indication that the Dean might be compensating for her own involvement with the Oriq. Mistake found further evidence using her Earring of the Past. She was initially looking into Tobi’s past, suspecting him of being the Oriq student. In the vision, Mistake heard Dean Kianne confiscating the recipe of Gary’s explosives from Louie and Timothy. After the brothers left, the Dean advised Tobi to stay away from the F Squad, and from Shelley in particular, in order to focus on his “assignment”. Captain Dapplewing later confirmed this suspicion: during her investigations into who the Oriq staff member was, Dean Kianne mysteriously disappeared from her office. A substitute covered her course for the remainder of the year. The next time the Dean was seen, she was in full Oriq regalia as she tested the barrier that locked the F Squad in Krokt Tower. Mistake used her earring again to confirm Tobi had let the Dean into the tower very early in the morning to infect various furniture items with eldritch balm. The goal was to kill the F Squad, or at least distract them long enough to kill the Captain separately. Dean Kianne had used Gary’s explosives to prime the Captain’s house for destruction. She fired an arrow from the surrounding trees to blow the house and kill the Captain. The F Squad was able to disable her, allowing the Dragonsguard to safely apprehend her. She was left in Captain Dapplewing’s custody, though her ultimate fate is yet unknown.
