Drowned Forest
Off to the west of Mudtown, the Drowned Forest was once a verdant region. A few decades ago, the marsh began to encroach on this area. As the water level rose, the forest was transformed into a more foreboding place. Shambling Mounds and Blights have appeared in the forest in increasing numbers while the water rotted away the trees themselves. In time, strange mushrooms and fungus sprouted throughtout the woods.
Today, the Drowned Forest is a fairly dangerous location to traverse. The trees remain standing, but they long ago lost their foliage and are little more than dead, rotting timbers projecting out of the mud. Mushroom and other fungi sprout everywhere. A thick cloud of spores fills the air and blots out the sun, leaving the area in perpetual darkness and allowing the unnatural growths to flourish
There is a lone path that has been maintained in the forest that travels from Burle to the Copperlocks Mines. The Mining Company has hired a group of mercenaries to escort caravans of miners or returning with shipments of silver.
