Session 19 Notes
Recorded October 5, 2024
General Summary
- The Doc and Cillian start to deal with the mess at the crypt while Boris and John help Irina get the people we rescued out of the area.
- We clean up everything in the upper level of the crypt, all of the equipment, candles, and anything outlying into a bag and take it away.
- We do a thorough search of the area and find a wallet and pocket watch:
- There is a name engraved inside the of the watch "Perry Astor"
- Inside the wallet we find items that belong to a "Frank Bosworth Brandegee"
- Frank is either from Washington DC or spends a lot of time there. There is a return train ticket for this weekend.
- We also find another one of those Playbill flyer and a champagne flute.
- We remove everything, places the stone back in place to cover the hole, and we lock the place up, and boogie out.
- We are able to meet up with John and Boris and the Doc and Cillian help them finish taking the rescued people back to the places where they were staying.
- Irina Martin tells us that everyone who is attending the symposium is meeting at the The Count's Spot for lunch.
- We manage to get back to the The Cazenave House house and we all fall into an exhausted sleep.
- Boris has very unpleasant dreams of being drug down into a watery darkness.
- In the morning, everyone finds a green sheet of paper slid under their door with the itinerary for the symposium. (see Symposium Flyer)
- Boris also has a letter (A Letter to Boris), it freaks him the fuck out. It is from the same guy that sent Nigel a letter after his horrible dreams in Peru, Nephren- Ka.
- This letter claims that the ten souls we saved still belong to him.
- We go down to breakfast and the Count (Arnaud Cazenave) and Jackson Elias join us.
- The Count looks a bit better and seems to be in good shape, much more put together than he was the night before.
- He tells us that he is planning on selling the book back to Irina for $500 dollars.
- The count surreptiously tells us the secret tunnel in the cafe is for bootlegging.
- We head towards the restaurant for lunch and to go over the schedule for the symposium.
- Irina tells us that the magician who was supposed to perform is not recovering from the Swamp Operetta, and she asks Boris to put on a show in his stead.
- Boris asks her to help him research Nephren-Ka and she agrees to do what she can.
- We go on the hoodoo tour. There is an attractive african-american woman who is being trailed by a man with a parisol, who leads the tour.
- Irina does not go on the tour, but it lasts for a couple of hours.
- At the end of the tour we end up in a place in the bayou where a woman of Indian descent does snake charming and she "summons" and aligator that she dances around.
- Boris tries to figure out how she is doing what she is doing and she is a true professional and very good at what she does
- Jackson's presentation is very good, but he dodges most of the questions asked of him.
- The next day, Jackson sheepishly brings up the fact that he need to head to Europe, in Austria, to pin them down for a conversation on his next project.
- The Count will allow us to stay in his home until the Symposium is over.
- The next day we follow the schedule and it is very interesting, but the cemetery tour is not as exciting as the Hoodoo tour, but it is informative.
- While John and Boris go to a seance, Doc and Cillian head to the library and start looking into the name Nephren-ka.
- We learn that it is definitely Egyptian. We do find a couple references that reference the name, references to a pharaoh with a similar name.
- There are reference books that would be more appropriate, but it does not seem that they have the books here at the New Orleans Library.
- We take notes of those reference books that would be useful if we can find copies of them.
- We learn that it is definitely Egyptian. We do find a couple references that reference the name, references to a pharaoh with a similar name.
- The séance is a bit underwhelming….. Though there are others that believe it was entertaining.
- The angels and demons presentation is pretty interesting.
- The presenter talks about biblical angels and how they walk among us.
- It is a bit triggering because we have seen some shit
- This guy who is talking about this topic is talking like he has seen the things he is talking about .
- It has the same feeling as we have toward what we have seen.
- We all split off after that and we go to a vareity of places to celebrate and catch some good entertainment.
- The next day, Jackson is already gone, on his way to Europe.
- We all go to see Boris' show and his tricks are good, but the audience is not as impressed with Boris himself.
- We then did rewards for this leg of the adventure (Sanity and skill improvement).
- As the development phase comes to an end we jump to 1925.
- Floyd gets a Telegram from Jackson Elias saying he had information about the Carlyle expedition. (See Telegram Sent to Dr. Musgrove) He wants a team to meet him in NY. He sends a wire to the rest of the team.
- We all kind of know about the Carlyle expedition.
- Roger Carlyle was a playboy in NY. He decided to go to Egypt and disappeared.
- Boris and the Doc continue to do research on Nephren-Ka.
- Jackson had been in touch with us up through the middle of 1924. This telegram is the first time we have heard from him since then.
- We ended the session there.
Rewards Granted
Development Phase achieved at the conclusion of session.
