Demography and Population
The initial population of Dulandir Human was joined by large groups of different ethnic groups from various kingdoms, mainly imperial slaves, who diversified the original stock. It is not uncommon to encounter groups and villages of other races.
The continuing state of war against Darkness has led the Theocracy to develop a war economy, concentrating resources on ongoing battles: one against the darkness on the ground and one for the souls of the population.
This continuous struggle has meant that the Theocracy focuses on the acquisition of territories torn from Darkness, thanks to the use of groups of settlers (more or less voluntary) who are destined for reclamation and subsequently for the exploitation of the lands. Many settlers are attracted by the free granting of plots, in the event that sufficient land is not claimed, others are destined to work in these lands: prisoners of various kinds taken from the prisons of the whole Theocracy.
The constant need of the population, to fight the darkness and free its territories, has developed two fundamental concepts in theocracy: polygamy and the condemnation of those who do not form a family.
Polygamy is pushed to the point of allowing marriages between different races or consanguineous, provided that such unions generate children of healthy and robust constitution.
All young people who do not respect the canons (defined by the inquisitors as "healthy and robust") are taken away from their parents and entrusted to the Clergy, sent to remote monasteries called Remitori, where they undergo processes of depersonalization and alchemical research, at the end of which they are used as troops of Techno-Flagellant fanatics.
Those who reach a certain age without having married or having children are arrested and turned into forced settlers.
