Occult Academy

With the arrival of the Empire, the cities of the Inner Sea were plundered and destroyed, the famous academies of magic of Susaydis were stripped and all treasures brought to the capital Phan: Alasia. The capital of the kingdom, the city of Susaydis, suffered tremendous destruction.

Some wizards escaped the massacre by hiding in the basement of the Enchanted Palace, home to the guild of wizards, managing to save many priceless books. For many years after the destruction Susaydis remained semi-deserted, home to a new school of magic hidden from the eyes of the occupants.

The Occult Academy kept the teaching of magic alive in its traditional form and was unaffected by the Phan vision. The spells were taught according to the old principles of "classes", such as transmutation, conjuration, etc ... and not according to the Phan system of "Theories" based on the functions of spells: Technomancy, Pyromancy, Cryomancy and so on.

Having remained a "secret" group for centuries, the Academy has developed a particular relationship with the world; in fact, all those who have been students of the academy have the habit of hiding their face or their entire body, taking on a different name from the one they were born with and keeping all their activities a secret.

The academy itself reflects in part these needs for anonymity, in order to enter the academy as a student you need the recommendation of a current member of the academy, or descent from well-known wizarding families; the classes are small and even the teachers are always veiled. Within the classes there are also "circles" or "congregations" that teach complementary subjects, accessible only to those who are accepted into these groups.

With the end of the Imperial rule all these needs for stealth disappeared, but they remained in use as "customs" of the past. To this day, the acceptance ceremony of a new student is held only in the presence of the teachers, in a dark room, in which the student "abandons" his old life and takes on new (masked) appearances, a new name and a "magic class" to which they will belong.
