Republic of Adara

  The Republic of Adara is the main trading port of the entire League, it is famous throughout the Sea of Terror as the best port for buying and selling, so huge quantities of goods arrive and depart every day. Taxes on goods are deliberately low, to encourage trade.   When the city of Susaydis was besieged for the second time by the imperial fleet, it was a fleet of flying ships (also collected thanks to merchants) coming from Adara that saved and finally liberated the besieged city.   The Republic of Adara is a directly elected democracy, all wealthy resident wizards over the age of 50 can compete for the positions of Magister, Judicator and Milites.   The Magister is the governor of the city and the territory, he decides the laws, taxes and everything concerning the civil administration of the Republic.   The Judicator is the wizard responsible for enforcing the laws (of course for other wizards, non-wizard citizens do not count).   The Milites is the wizard in charge of the Republic army, the Magic Schools and the Stables (where monsters and mounts are bred).   Given this style of election there is no powerful Lord of the Republic, but the three main merchant families (Al Adara, El Rashed and El Sadek) practically fight each other for control of the Republic and who should be represented at the League.   When in 472 NE, the Khedir's seizure of power in the kingdom of Hegnor pushed the faithful of the gods of Valenor to flee, the refugee ships were welcomed in the small port of Kale. Over the centuries, the descendants of the refugees have maintained hatred for the oppression of their homeland by the Khedir, to the point of creating a privateer fleet with the sole purpose of targeting Khedrim traffic.   In 1216 NE, Due to the spread of darkness, the port of Kale was lost, so those who managed to escape from the city, split into two large groups, reached Adaraa by land, while those who escaped by ship they were pushed southwards and then arrived on the island of Tarteros, recently "cleaned" by a volcanic eruption, and settled there.   Given the presence of refugees in the city of Adaraa, the Tarteros Corsairs have gained access to a network of fences to whom they can sell the proceeds of their raids.
