Temple of Discordance

Home to the brave people who accompanied president Eaminá during the Disseverment, the temple started as a small, practical building away from the infected cities but close enough to try and instaurate some sort of order for those who remembered a different reality. It was meant to be hidden and as fortified as possible in a short construction time.   They didn't expect to have a forest grow around them and find themselves protected from both the contagion and any possible attack. The building was even stronger than planned, since they had more time to work on it, but the walled gardens eventually became a recreation area as they ventured to grow vegetables in the outside. They do have limited space, of course, because nothing grows in the forest, but the trees ignored enough land for them and their descendants to build a self sustainable farm. More than once, too, they received some materials (transported in self guided vehicles) to build better instalations as their community grew (not so much in numbers as in hopes for the future).   It were the diseased who started calling it a Temple of Discordance, many people think. I heard it really started as a joke of the healthy.

Inhabitants

The building was meant to be a sort of laboratory and hospital, not unlike most temples of The Healing Order, and other than the architects and workers, the people who lived there were healers, academics, and a couple of polititians who where meant to help the suposed president to rule in the best way for everyone.   They didn't abandoned their call, but they dedicated most of their time to keep the farm and survive. Only the medics remained focused while the others slowly accepted that place as their home.   What I find hard to believe, or at least to understand, is how new people arrives at their door once in a while, if everyone is supposed to be sick and unable to cross the valley.   They have little tools to investigate the fact, but they at least have the original brainless to record their lives and scientific progress.

History

Eaminá's plan was to try and control the situation from the temple, where they would hopefully avoid the disease, and keep their mind clear enough to help the sick. They had little hopes of that strategy working for much time, but when the valley was formed, their location became conveniently high and hard to access.   It was a constant struggle for Eaminá to understand what her electors believed or remembered, and despite the use of technology to keep the communication open, every so often they tried to invade the temple and take her to a city. They couldn't enter the Valley, of course, let alone reach the fortress they were building surrounded by grey trees.   Nevertheless, the "president" knew she couldn't help if she didn't know anything about the reality that the "democratic surface" lived at, so she traveled to the infected area, making the temple irrelevant to the infected.

Author's Notes

I was so sleepy when I wrote this (hours ago) that I didn't dare to hit the publish button. I can't say I did a great job checking now.
