Devil
Devils are denizens of The nine hells , embodying lawful evil in various forms. They comprise one of the three main types of fiends, living in a strict hierarchy where movement is determined by the desires of an Archdevil , usually in Phlegethos fourth layer of the nine hells , or sometimes lower-ranking devils may be elevated by a Pit fiend or Amnizu
There are two primary types of devils: the Abishai , servitors of Tiamat in Avernus , resembling draconic creatures with distinct powers and abilities based on their colors; and the Baatezu , the most common kind of devils in the hierarchy and in the Hells.
Abishai come in five different colors, each with its own purpose and role. They follow the orders of Asmodeus and Tiamat, and are created from mortals who gain Tiamat's favor. Black Abishai excel in assassination and infiltration, blue seek relics and magical objects, green act as diplomats, red lead armies, and white serve as fighters and soldiers.
The hierarchy of the Nine Hells consists of 13 levels. The lowest are Lemures and Nupperibos :
Lemures are the weakest devils, lacking intellect and resembling mounds of flesh. They suffer torment until transformed into higher forms.
Nupperibos are weak devils created from useless souls, appearing as overweight figures with sewn eyes and mouths, and are often used as meat shields.
On the 2nd level, Imps are tiny, mischievous devils frequently used as spies and messengers due to their shapeshifting abilities and manipulation skills.
On the 3rd level, Spined Devils possess spiky bodies and can shoot needle-like spines at enemies, serving as skilled ranged attackers and scouts.
The 4th level features Bearded Devils and Merregons :
Bearded Devils wield glaives and create harmful auras. They're known for their resilience.
Merregons are combat-bred foot soldiers equipped with fiery weapons and relentless fighting prowess.
The 5th level houses Barbed Devil , skilled at close combat and ranged attacks using their barbed tails.
Chain Devils occupy the 6th level, using spiked chains to torture and restrain their victims.
The 7th level is inhabited by Bone Devils , adept spellcasters who manipulate magic to control other devils in the hierarchy.
Lesser devils have tasks tailored to their abilities, while greater devils on the 8th level and above, such as Horned Devils and Orthon who occupy the eighth, lead infernal armies. Horned Devils possess potent spells and combat abilities, while Orthons excel in bounty hunting and tracking.
Erinyes on the 9th level are female devils with beauty and flight capabilities, using seduction and manipulation to achieve their goals.
The 10th level features Ice devils and Narzugons :
Ice Devils master cold magic and use it to trap and freeze enemies.
Narzugons, former paladins turned elite cavalry, ride infernal nightmare steeds and are skilled in both combat and magic.
On the 11th level, Pit fiend and Amnizu are the elite devils, with Pit Fiends being powerful generals with strong spellcasting and physical prowess, while Amnizu are spellcasters and scholars knowledgeable in forbidden lore.
The 12th level comprises lesser Archdevil with varying authority in the realm.
The 13th level houses the 9 Baron/Baroness of the nine hells , each ruling over a layer of the Nine Hells with armies and power.
At the pinnacle of the hierarchy stands Asmodeus , the Lord of the Ninth, the master of manipulation and the tyrant of the Hells.
