Riza / Qaavi (REYE-zah / KAH-vee)

Each of the moons have various names depending on culture. This moon is most commonly referred to as "Riza" in Solesia and "Qaavi" in Varia. For the purposes of this article, it will be referred to as Riza unless otherwise stated.

The Blood Moon

Riza is the only red moon and the smallest of the circular moons. Its uniqueness has made it notable in many mythologies, a large number of which assign some sinister meaning to its bloody color. One popular myth in Varia depicts the red moon as Nebakún's traitorous servant that constantly plots to overthrow him.

With its quick orbital period, Riza appears and vanishes often when it is least expected. Any moon is considered a bad omen when in the sky alone, but that omen grows worse if that moon is Riza.

Appearance

Riza is bright red and about a third of the size of the largest moon, Ovali / Nebakún. No details can be discerned on its surface with the naked eye. With a telescope it appears to have a rough, almost sandpaper-like texture.
