Parliament of the Republic

The Parliament of the Republic is the lower house of the legislative branch of the Federal Republic's government and is central to the Republic since the vote of it is necessary for a host of government processes. This institution has been at the center of government decisions and has acted on many occasions as a place to debate major societal issues since its founding in 2200.

Structure

The Parliament is headed by the President of the Parliament of the Republic who is in charge of managing the Parliament's administration, deal with proceedings during parliament's sessions and appoints the people within the various standing commissions. He can also create new one on current topics by obtaining the prior agreement of the Parliament with the exception of public inquiry that does not require the approval of the last. The President of the Parliament is also responsible to assembles the Parliament's agenda according to the chronological order of the proposals and their priority.

Composition

The Parliament of the Republic is made up of 4 000 deputies with 60% of these are assigned according to the electoral results in the federal constituencies where they represent approximately 60 million citizens while the remaining 40% is assigned proportionally. The citizens vote indeed a second time for their party of their choice with the result of their vote being distributed proportionally to the remaining deputies. The independent senators represent the white vote at the level of the proportional ballot. These are elected by universal suffrage for a four years term with a maximum of six in their lifetime.

They approves or rejects the legislative proposals of the government and votes more generally on everything that happens at the level of the Parliament of the Republic. It is possible throughout the process in the case of a vote on a law for the different parties in the Parliament of the Republic to propose amendments which can be voted on. They may also vote on motions of symbolic significance proposed by the parties and they are generally used to indicate the opinion of the Senate on a subject. It must ultimately serve as a forum for debate on major societal or political issues.

Commissions

The Parliament has many permanent commissions with the composition is determined by the President of the Parliament of the Republic. The same applies to those temporary ones it may create, except Boards of Inquiry which take the same nomination process, but the approval of the Federal Civil Service Office is necessary for each nominees. The most important is the Permanent Commission on Referendum Approval which is responsible for validating the signatures as well as approving the referendum or refusing it only on some pretext. These are either that the signatures are not valid, the proposal violates the rights of citizens, this one is considered unreasonable and impossible to apply or against public interest.

Politics

Political parties were formed very quickly as in most legislatures after the founding of the Parliament of the Republic where this kind of grouping is essential for the adoption of government proposals. Some current parties are the descendants, the result of mergers or a transformation of these old parties although they were not the same as today. The Senate is divided today around five political parties with the Progressive Party, the Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Renewal Party, the Republican Party and the National Pride Party.

Public Agenda

The main purpose of the Parliament is to represent the people of the Republic in government decisions by voting on anything that requires a vote under the constitution and laws of the Republic. The Parliament also aims to be a place for debate on major social issues that affect the population of the Republic.

Assets

The Parliament of the Republic sits in New York where the building that accommodates these thousands of deputies was built. The building is called the People House is located next to the old building of the ancient United Nations. The headquarters of this former earthly organization is now a museum which is very popular with tourists visiting New York. The building is recognized within the Republic for its unique architecture that stands out from the rest of New York.

I think it was John Lennon who said that New York was modern-day Rome. And I think it's fitting that you would pick New York as the government's base of operations. New York City, aside from Los Angeles, where many people go to get rich and famous. Good to see you back!
