The Path

The southern part of the Little Keplar district between East Tower and The Wine and Coal Road is known as 'The Path'.

In the early days of Tri-City (in the 240s) the Tri-City Board of Directors decided to build Tri-City High School in the land directly between the Keplan and Deltan settlement to make it as easy as possible to access from all the districts.

For the very same reason, the Church of Austerity and Discipline also chose to build in the location between the two population groups. The 'Austerity' denomination is not very popular among Likeminds so they saw no need to place the Church close to Fedora. Despite the name of the church, they invested in a rather large and flashy garden pathway leading up to an ornate building at the top of a hill.

This garden pathway eventually merged with the pathways around the school grounds and the Paladin Pizza plaza owned by Fae Norine. However, it did not become popular to refer to this area as 'The Path' till much later in Tri-City history.

The name is rather new to the people of Tri-City, a very common term among younger people, especially those that attended Tri-City High School. Older people sometimes don't acknowledge the informal name of this district.

History of The Path

In the early 290s after the HR Riots a social movement of older, more wealthy Keplans decided that they no longer approve of young people hanging around after school. As a result the Keplar Police Department was pressured into enforcing the vaguely written 'loitering' laws in order to prevent the students from sitting around and enjoying the park after school.

The language of the law, however, did not include anything that allowed the police to kick out people who were walking. In an attempt to not lose their customers, the businesses along The Path began offering menus specializing in food that can be eaten while walking.

Today, the walking and eating culture of The Path is a cultural staple of Tri-City. Most tourists who visit Tri-City always have walking The Path on their to-do list. The Path has become home to live music events, weekly swing dancing, street vendors, sporting events, and much more. The attempt to stop young people from hanging out has had the opposite effect and instead created a vibrant cultural hub.

Food Trays

One of the emplyees at Paladin Pizza invented a food tray that you can wear like a backpack. These trays will hold 3 items ordered from the 'walking menu'. The restauraunts along the path standardized the sizes of their containers for this specific purpose.

However, it is incredibly difficult to reach the food on your own backpack. As a result the common practice is to put the food on your friends backpack and your friend put food on your backpack. This process of sharing the food off your back with others has become a defining part of The Path and Tri-City High School.

What You Will Find

Defoball Sports Park

One of the central attractions to The Path is the Defoball Sports Park built by Defoball Sporting Goods. This park is home to both a Defoball field and Keep'A'Ball court, both with bleachers for hundreds of fans to sit and enjoy a game. For most of the year there are high school sporting events on Friday nights, bringing a lot of traffic to the businesses on the path.   There is also plenty of practice space or just general space for whatever outdoor activities people might participate in. The field and court are also home to other sporting, dancing, or public events.

Defoball Sporting Goods

The company that build the sports park build the cities largest sporting goods store right next door so they could profit on the sports culture of Tri-City. Many people walking The Path will stop by Defoball Sporting Goods to check out the latest sports fashion.

Paladin Pizza Plaza

Built 60 years ago when Tri-City was still just a new idea, the Paladin Pizza building is one of the the most important landmarks in the city. It sits across the Armistice Bridge from its twin, the Bespoke Fedoras building.

The main building itself is home to more than just pizza, but also several other important businesses like the telegraph office, TrEats, Inc Entertainment, , and the Triangle Times.

In the courtyard there is a food court with 4 restaurants that is frequented by the businessmen who work in the building, the students from the nearby school, people coming or going from the church, or tourists visiting The Path. These 4 restaurants are Dipping Burgers, Gong Bao, Bugurt, and Churro Chalet.

There is a platform attached to the courtyard where street vendors can sell goods or musicians can set up and play music. Every Friday night the plaform is filled with vendors, and on Saturday live bands play for the free swing dancing event.

The Church of Austerity and Discipline

Every Sunday the religious people of Little Keplar meet at the Church of Austerity and Discipline for the weekly service. The church and the lavish gardens around are also the home to many other less formal meetings of the church community throughout the week.

Tri-City High School

There is only one high school in Tri-City, so all the children who continue their education from grade 6-10 go to TCHS. As a result The Path is often filled with students who are hanging out or participating in sports.
