Personal history
Blake first met Kade when they came upon her and Cassius O'Brien crashlanded on a planet. Blake was drunk by the time Kade found them and Cassius allowed Kade to come to the conclusion that Blake had been the pilot at the time of the crash and her drinking was why it happened (years later, Blake disputed this claim and asserted that Cassius had been piloting the craft at the time). Kade gave Cassius and Blake a lift until Cassius was able to get back to the Sacred Ascendency and get another ship.
At the time, Kade gave Blake more or less the benefit of the doubt and they were friendly with each other, but other incidents over the years (culminating in Blake trying to use Kade's ship to clear a debt) soured and then destroyed their relationship.
