Cydonia Manufacturing is a Martian information-technology and manufacturing megacorporation. Its headquarters on are on the island of Crete in New Paris.

History

A corporate ancestor of the once-hegemonic Genesis corporation influential in the 22nd and 23rd centuries, Cydonia has gone through a number of restructurings and identity shifts over time. Its main product historically has been information technology software and hardware projects.
In the technological stagnation of the 26th century, it has focused primarily on heavy manufacturing of its previous innovations, including a number of aircraft, spaceship, and mech designs. For a time, it was primarily known for the windfall success of the Synchronicity Project, which it maintained before its destruction.

Reputation

Cydonia attempts to maintain a peaceful and benevolent reputation in contrast to its rival Kusanagi, an effort which is particularly effective in the far-flung worlds and space colonies of the Martian Technocratic League. However, closer to home, the megacorp is the target of much resentment for playing a perceived role in the widening of economic inequality on Mars, especially in its home city of New Paris.
Academic observers have noted that Cydonia is a primary benefactor of economically imperialist policies in the MTL, also suggesting that the company benefits from an artificial monopoly on virtual reality technology, facilitated by its influence on the MTL. The company has been accused by the Social Republic of committing a large number of crimes against humanity abroad, and is thus a primary target for SR hostility.
