My name is Charlie Lancaster, Captain, and leader of The Final Voyage. Two days ago, the United Space Confederation declared the launch of the last crewed voyage into the depths of space. We are headed far further than any human has ever gone and have no hope of return. The rest of the crew is quiet, fully aware that they will never go home again, but I am hopeful. I can hear the stars. They are singing to me...
Origins
Mission Brief
Although the spaceflight ban has been lifted on earth, space travel is still viewed as unnecessary and damaging to the planet. Due to this, The United Space Confederation agreed to no longer send Spaceships outside of The Sol System. However, in late 4015, scientists began to pick up on an unknown signal coming from deep space. They believe it to be a form of communication. The Last Voyage is the last crewed voyage to travel outside of The Sol System. It is headed to The Orion System with the aim of finding intelligent life and/or habitable planets. Because Earth is nearing it's destruction, the USC believe that humanity's only hope is to find another planet to live on but with no habitable planets in Earth's solar system, The Last Voyage is that hope.Founding
The Last Voyage was officially founded in January 4015 with the belief that it was the last hope of humankind. The crew was selected from volunteers, as no one felt like they could employ people for a mission where they were almost guaranteed to die in space.
Crew Criteria
Officials within the USC decided upon certain criteria that volunteers had to meet in order to qualify for the mission. These included things such as the volunteers had to be single and have no children, they must be physically and mentally healthy, and they must have at least 4 years of experience or a letter of recommendation.Crew Members
