Worship of Dendar is often outright mocked in common Stormlight society, taken as the notion of fabricating a god out of nothing. To the select few who do pray to the serpent in their dreams, Dendar is a cosmic entity, humbled by other, jealous gods. It awaits, hungrily in its prison, to strike vengeance upon those who wrongfully imprisoned it. Exiles and outcasts who find themselves shunned by civil society may lean to Dendar for worship, looking for any symbol of defiance to the people and gods who have ostracized them.
They believe their worship will reward them with a life of good dreams, and nothing but vile nightmares for their enemies. That when Dendar's shackles break, it will humble the gods and allow mortal beings to all live full, happy lives without their fickle influence and playing with the destiny of the world.
