Leshivoi Forest

Leshivoi Forest, also known as Leshivoi Greatwood is the name of the mystical and ancient forest that borders Styx to the West.

The forest used to cover most of the area that is now Styx and the Western Serpent of Styx flows through the woods.

The Leshivoi Forest is said to be inhabited by many mythological and terrible beings including but not nearly limited by werewolves, vengeful spirits, sapient trees, blood-drinking dryads, satyrs, beastmen, gigantic spiders and direwolves.

The people of Styx depend on the Greatwood for firewood which is used both in resistential heating and the industrial furnaces that produce almost all goods used in Styx and exported by Styx as well as for medicinal herbs, game, foraged plants and funghi as well as certain ores that cannot be mined commercially.

There are many horrible tales about the forest and the beings that make it their home, stories told by the oldwives of the city and the outlying villages to all children speak of the witches and monsters that lurk just outside the lanterns of Styx waiting to strike and consume anybody foolish enough to walk the forest unattentively and without caution.

The sapient inhabitants of the forest are called the Forestfolk; long ago the Sumraki-Ashaī drove them off their land when they founded the Empire of Styx after their Great Exodus.

Great-Oaks are among the largest trees of the forest, dwarfing even some of the towers of Styx and holy above all things to those that dwell in the Greatwood.
