Northern Serpent River

Of the Three Serpent Rivers of Styx the Northern Serpent is by far the safest to travel.

Often called the Sluggish Serpent, the Northern River flows all the way from the Sixteen Peaks of Peryknos in the Kingdom of Darklight along the northern edge of the Leshivoi Forest to Styx where its waters join Lake Aphon.

The Northern Serpent is the main route of transport used by traders and passenger ships going between the capital of Darklight, Petrichorya and is travelled the most of the serpent rivers.
Goods are often delivered via land caravan all the way between the southern Obsidian Shore's ports and Darklight to the north west.

The Northern Serpent of Styx is also horribly polluted, the manufacturies of Factum pump the exhaust water directly into the water making it unsafe to drink.
On hot summer days the fumes that rise from the river nauseate even the strongest stomachs and can quite literally burn nose hair.
When the river spills into Lake Aphon the pollution is diluted making the fish caught in Lake Aphon at least not immediately fatal to eat... illness after continuous exposure is common among the working class however.
