Celestis' Return
Celestis being one of the earliest known official superheroes, her life and disappearance are a source of a lot of debate.
Theft and Lies
The gist of the story is that after a long and successful career as a hero, Celestis was approached by Kiergo, who does definitely exist despite what a lot of people think. I've met him. No official confirmation of this story, though, because he didn't seem happy to be reminded of Celestis. Anyhow, he asked her to come with him to do something. We don't know exactly what. It's taken a couple hundred years to accomplish, though. Some sources say it's an exceedingly elaborate heist. Others tell tales of betrayal and grandiose government overhauls. My personal favorite is that Kiergo needed help in retrieving a forgery. Not for any particularly good reason, but because he made a bet with an unknown third person and Celestis was one of the few people he was friends with at the time. She has to leave behind her signature wings. Whatever the process, she expected it would take long enough that she left specific instructions about the care and keeping of those wings , but even with that this still feels like it took a bit longer than intended. If indeed this is the story, and she didn't just die in space somewhere.When She Comes
A lot of people believe what the Celestis Branch says about Celestis. She left her wings behind, so she has to come back. Even if people disagree about why she left, or what she went to do, or even that she actually departed the planet, the majority are absolutely confident that she'll come back someday. Which to me is the wildest part of it, since it's the only part of the story that has no backing to it.
