Paragons of the Fiery Shield

Paragons of the Fiery Shield are a martial order that worship Urzor . Though their official headquarters are in Drauk , most of their order is actually stationed in the See of Frelor . The organisation works in lockstep with The Order of the Holy Flame , commonly as their martial arm. The leader of this order is Zor Crescente Curiale at this current time. Their previous leader, Zor Melis Lenduns, was executed for treason and heresy.     While The Order of the Holy Flame maintains its own military arm now in its Clerics that fight the undead, it regularly collaborates with the Paragons of the Fiery Shield for larger fights. The Paragons also fight threats to the Holy Flame on their behalf at their behest. While the relationship between the orders had grown contentious nearing the end of the War of Princes and the first year of the founding of the See of Frelor, it became amiable again upon the death of Zor Melis Lenduns. The Paragons of the Fiery Shield follow most of the same religious practices as the Order of the Holy Flame. Their headquarters is in Cinereous Temenos (The Temple of Cinders) in Aralla in Drauk. They are seen on the road a lot, attending to the business of the Holy Orders. They believe their fighting is the true worship of Urzor.

Divine Origins

The Paragons of the Fiery Shield was founded by Zor Edwyr Loram. They were originally part of The Order of the Holy Flame - they were their more formal military arm. They splintered from The Order of the Holy Flame  a few centuries after its founding. Edwyr felt the Holy Flame didn't do enough to protect the common people as this was during a period when the Holy me didn't send a member of its order forth to deal with the undead unless they threatened true believers. Edwyr felt all commoners should receive protection from the dead, and proactively protecting people- even non-believers is how they would effectively spread the word of the Holy Flame and indeed make them true believers. Their sect splintered and moved their headquarters to Aralla  in Drauk to be out from under the Holy Flames influence.  The Order of the Holy Flame later came to agree with their stance of protecting more than just true believers, and over time the two sects have come to work closely together again.

Tenets of Faith

Worship of the small gods - the "Afterlings, as they call them - is forbidden by them. Worship of the rest of the Tetralogy is allowed, but considered lesser than Urzor by them, and may hamper any social or political improvements to an individual's station. They do not recognize marriages conducted by religions outside the Tetralogy. Clergy are forbidden from raising the dead - the balance between the living and the dead is important. They wear blackened mail and tunic, with their sigil emblazoned upon a black shield. Their swords have a red patina from their use of flame-blade, the earned them the nickname 'the Red Swords'.

Worship

They mainly worship through prayers and sacrificial offerings, such as a lamb or goat, as well as having a tithing system upon their followers.
