Twisted Gate

In the aftermath of The Tearing, a new and ominous phenomenon emerged, known as the Twisted Gate. This corrupted remnant of the once-great Altether now serves as a conduit for chaos and aberration, a constant plague on all the realms of T'bet Dal.

Origin

The Twisted Gate was born from the cataclysmic event that shattered the Altether. When Aliakar, a dark cosmic entity, tore through the fabric of the Altether, it not only disrupted its structure but also infused it with corrupting energies. The Twisted Gate is the most significant manifestation of this corruption.

Aberrations

Unlike the Altether, which once facilitated the transport of beings and species across realms, the Twisted Gate now distorts and corrupts anything that passes through it. With very few exceptions, the only Beings that emerge from the gate do so as aberrations; deformed, warped, and monstrous. These aberrations range from grotesque monstrosities to far more subtle, insidious forms.

Impact

The Twisted Gate operates without discernible pattern or logic, its activations seemingly random. Even the most skilled prophesiers cannot foresee when or where the next aberration will appear.

Magical Studies

Arcanists and scholars are both fascinated and horrified by the Twisted Gate. Its existence challenges their understanding of magic and dimensional physics, prompting many to study it, despite the risks involved.

Culture

In the collective psyche of T'bet Dal, the Twisted Gate has become a symbol of fear and the unknown. Tales of its aberrations have woven their way into the folklore and nightmares of many cultures across the world.

Containment

Efforts to control, close, or destroy the Twisted Gate have so far been unsuccessful. The gate's inherent instability and the dangerous nature of the aberrations it produces make such endeavors extremely perilous.
