The Abyss

The Abyss is the plane of chaotic evil, home of the demons and a seemingly limitless number of other foul monstrosities. The stronger seek to dominate the weaker and the weaker conspire to overthrow the stronger. It was once estimated the Abyss had 666 layers but it could well have been an infinite number.
Lolth's Demonweb Pits are one of the infinite layers of the Abyss, and many demon lords are equal in power to the demigods and hero-gods of Faerun. Orcus, Etlab, Soniellon, and other demon lords are worshiped or have followings in Faerun.
