Genetics and Reproduction

A Wailer is created from the dark corruption known as Gloomification, with sadness being the main cause, creating a creature that is drowned in its sadness that forces it on others to make them understand their pain.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Wailer's growth rate depends mainly on how much grief they truly feel before becoming adapted and later elder. Their cries become more high-pitched and have a large effect radius to cause harm to all in range.

Ecology and Habitats

You can find an Unsatiable lurking in the darkness for something to eat, yet they will not stay for long as their desire to devour makes them wander during the day in shady places to eat.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Gloomlings do not need to eat to survive, yet they hunt other living things as their dark urges tell them to do.

Biological Cycle

They will mainly stay in dark places just like all Gloomspawn do only to come out when there isn't any light to stop them.

Behaviour

Wailers are often the more solitary type of Gloomspawn as their grief makes them seek out isolation from everything around them only to let out gut-wrenching screams that alert other Gloomspawn around them of none Gloomspawn intruders and stun them for capture if close enough. They often stay away from any real fighting as their bodies are too fragile to deal with it staying behind stronger Gloomlings to protect them.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Wailers are always under the command of a Glooming Elder and follow its orders, along with servants of the Gloom, who can also take control of them so long as they don't overstep their boundaries with them. Wailers are generally used as a means to immobilize attackers and defenders that face against their kind. Those who reach the status of Elder gather other Wailers around them to let out a stronger amplified scream to cause enough harm or death to those in its range and use other Gloomspawn to wipe their foes while weakened.

Horrid Cries

It was one of the worst things I ever heard in my life, I could only feel pain that made me freeze in place as if I were a prisoner in my own body. - Guard
The cries of a Wailer are considered one of the worst things to experience in life as its wailing is filled with such pain that it fills any who feels with misery. This leads them to be filled with both emotional and physical that overwhelms their senses to normally act. Being affected by a small blast leaves them disoriented and encumbered; prolonged exposure causes paralysis and unconsciousness, making it all the more reason to get rid of them before they react.
