Asharai

Asharai is one of the crowned cities of Tellius this is due to the large cave system it's built upon. It's believed to have once been a city of the giants with many large rooms and staircases descending deeper and deeper into the ground in a large confusing maze. The Dragonborn have found the important routes through, mainley ones down to an ancient mine, here lay tons of minerals found nowhere else many of the minerals are ground down into special magical powders and components. But don't stray off the path as monsters and untold horrors still learn deep within the maze of rooms. Asharai only has one way in or out and has its protector above this gate at nearly all times this guardian is a Lamassu nicknamed Ra or the one who sleeps, he has been in this desert since long before the city.  
Most of the city is dedicated to mining and magic weather from breaking down the material to testing its magical properties everything is done here.   Due to the Magic influence on the city, this is the only place outside of the Alliance that has an alliance mage guild and bounty board. This bounty board stands out amongst the standards as it is the only Alliance bounty board in Tellius it is normally filled with jobs from throughout the entire desert.   The city has no churches as about an hour's walk north there's a large cave that's believed to be one of the homes of Dhar’kamish all religious needs or proceedings are handled there called the dragon's jaw.   Many refer to Asharai as the city of drakes as many drakes and dragonkin are a part of everyday life, they have truly become ingrained in all parts of the city everything from transportation to helping in the bakeries keeping the flames in the ovens perfect. Many visitors can spend weeks in the city without seeing all the different types of drakes many tourists actually take this as a challenge and try to find them all.

Demographics

Like most places in Tellius the city is populated by a majority of Dragonborn's but since their agreement with the Alliance, other humanoids have recently started calling this city home mainly mages and guild members.

Government

While many claim the city is obviously a democracy as the people vote for the council many argue and whisper that many of the votes are bought and it's more like a Plutocracy where money equals power. The main argument used for this point is to look at who sits on the counsel many at the table are normally the head of the guilds.

Defences

Large walls surround the outside of the city along with another set surrounding the inner section, the outer walls are normally patrolled by small bands of soldiers. While those are the official defenses of the city most still believe in the lamina Ra to protect them should anything come too hard for the people of Asharai.    

Industry & Trade

Most trade coming out of Asharai is tied to the large mine whether it be a rare and expensive mineral or a one-of-a-kind magic material. 

Infrastructure

The Internal Ring

The City's layout has one large center building towering over all other structures in the city as no other building is over 2 floors tall. This was once made as a home for the Lamassu and still has a giant open spire in the middle ready to be used as a rest once again. After the courtyards surrounding the building, you have the area known as Home of the first or the Mining realm. It encircles the central building and makes up about 30% of the city this was originally the entirety of the city and due to this, it is surrounded by a wall that the Lammassu would oversee. Inside the wall most things are made for practicality rather than comfort the homes are small and right on top of each other, the older mining buildings are semi-crude and patched together but many of the original homes have been knocked down for newer and nicer production and mining buildings only the cheapest and least paid miners still live in this section of town. Along side these miners still sit a line of talented blacksmiths called the thunderous cavern due to the loud banging of metal all day.

External Expansion

Making up the rest of the city is the remaining three disctricts the market, marchant and magic realm made up of residential homes this area also holds a number of interesting places such as the shopping area, the archives, an inn, taverns, testing sites, the mage guild and more. “ The testing site “ is a collection of buildings farthest from the city entrance bordering the internal ring this is where the semi-new magical materials are tested once they pass a certain saftying rating in the mining realm they are sent here for further testing to find the true capabilities. Bordering the testing site to the left sits the Magic guild alongside the city's only inn and the smaller of the two taverns. Seeing how well the bounty board was going for the mage guild the city placed their own in front of the inn to kill any monsters causing problems in the mines below. Bordering the testing site to the right sits the market distract made up of mainly daily goods and magical goods shops selling all types of materials from the caves below at some of the cheapest rates in the world. If your looking for something more specific or of the highest quality many would advise a stop at the Merchant district instead. In Between one of the residential areas and the market district sits the city's largest tavern part of Glitz tavern chain after they moved the first one from the mining realm. The majority left of the city is residential homes made up of miners and mages.

Geography

Found deep in the dry and arid deserts of Tellius not much besides rolling sand hills surround this city.

Natural Resources

The city seems to be placed in an unending cave system that provides anything one could want to find underground from precious stones to new magical components.
