Greenstone Hall

Greenstone Hall is one of the smaller residential districts. Situated just north of the common quarter, the chamber is mostly known for its mysterious titular stone. Even with the small area most of the district normally lays empty this is due to the Green Stone. The Green Stone in the center of the hall was discovered during the area's excavation over 7oo years ago. At first, it was considered a lucky strike by the miners but, shortly after the discovery of a number of peculiarities surrounding it began to raise questions, many of which have not been answered to this day. Some information is known about the Greenstone. It is a dioptase crystal formation, the size of which is exceptional. While it is not known exactly how much more of the crystal is embedded in the ground, those who have studied it generally agree that around 60-70 percent of its mass remains hidden below the surface.   The first hint that the Greenstone was something more than it appeared came when a local priestess of Strahl visited to thank her deity for the blessing he had bestowed upon the city. The priestess, perhaps out of idle curiosity, cast a divination spell upon the stone discovering, to her surprise that it radiated with a powerful magical aura. Neither the type of magic nor its purpose was known, but the attention this brought raised a great deal of interest in the green crystal, leading to another, slightly stranger discovery.   Experts on magic and runes were brought in from the 5th and 2nd House and for the next several years a great deal of research went into the stone, though in the end, it resulted in very few answers. Even after the vast study only three things were known for sure. First, the stone is not only magical but unable to be cut from any of the dwarven methods. Second, It is agreed that the stone is infused with several different schools of magic but all seem to detect different schools from the stone. Third, only around 20% of spellcasters can detect the stone as magical.
