First Channel War
The First Channel War was the major conflict between the Kingdom of Arcwood and the Irgia Republic. The kingdom was about to control entirely of the Ronminar Isles, and the only place remained was the Colony of Sria. However, since the republic was backing them from across the Irgian Channel, they had no choice but to make a disruption.
The Conflict
Prelude
The people of ronminar isles had fought to unite themselves for over hundred years. Between 144 - 110 BVE there were six states contesting the ownership of the isle - the most advantage came to be the Kingdom Of Arcwood. Near the end of the 1st century BVE, the kingdom were able to beat them all, only the colony of sria on the northwest to fillful the achivement.
The problem was their colonizer, Irgia Republic. Irgian navy keep supplying them made the land campaign so difficult. Arwich army might fought well on the land. In the sea, however, was the opposite. The amount of all the ship in the kingdom can't compared.
Deployment
The ruler at the time, Imogen, realized this problem. She wasn't supported to enthrone in the first place, but the early death of her brother forced her to do so. She didn't have any idea of ruling rather than managing the whole palace, but her youth love of the sea would help the country in some way.
Shortly after the coronation in 120 BVE what she first did was form a team of the best shipwrights, reverse engineering the existed ship, testing the prototypes in the enclosed water, and training sea commands. She tried to reinvent the navy as a whole.
While doing so, she had to command the land campaign as well, only to find the stagnation, which was very wore her out. The citizen seem to disagree with the queen's master plan but she finally came up with new 30 cutting-edge warships. The queen's secret fleet was laid down into the Gulf of Arcwood in 114 BVE, with the queen took a role as the admiral.
The Engagement
Both Irgian and Arwich fleets encountered each other around the isle's coast, but the most important one was located near the coast of Sria where most of their ship prepared to invade the gulf.
The Irgian triremes cannot ram the stronger and more maneuverable Arwich ship, and if they did so they had to fight the professional army in greater numbers thanks to the greater size. Several hours later, the Irgian's greatest fleets had been dissolved.
The victorious fleet then blocked the Irgian gulf as a result. Without any support, the colony's army began to weaken. Their army retreated back to Sria and nothing they could do. In the year 110 BVE, the city was captured.
Outcome
The city of Sria was seversely damaged and its government was partly repelled. Irgian signed the treaty to cede all their colony to the kingdom. The Kingdom of Arcwood, now taking control the whole isle, decided to change the kingdom's name to solidify themselves - The Maritime Kingdom.
Aftermath
Since then the Arwich navy had becone known as the most powerful in the region, patrolling the whole isle with might, and trading the outside with secure. The shipbuilding technology also being more developed by desire of the queen - some of them could even sailed across the ocean.
Meanwhile, the Irgian's loss of important resources and navies led to the economic recover. It took time to recover their prestidge from such point. The republic took an aid from the Valonia Empire and thus formed an ally in 106 BVE.
Both Irgian and Arwich had several encounters from time to time, but according to historic records, the Arcwich always won. Before the republic navy could compete the kingdom it was until the 45 VE when the Second Channel War emerged.
