Alterations
Originally, The Gilded Mare was built as a great hall for the citizens of Merciwyne to drink and eat. Over time, the building received renovations and upgrades, to become a full service, 37 room inn. Additionally, a stage was added to the main barroom to allow traveling minstrels, bards, and musicians to perform.
Architecture
True to the nature and the style of the dwarves, the entirety of the tavern is lavishly engineered and decorated. The exterior showcases the age-old dwarven motto of "spare no expense", with their liberal use of polished bronze intertwined with the wooden framing. A beautifully crafted statue of a horse sits on a wooden and bronze pedestal beside the front stairs leading to the patio, in the outdoor seating area. Tables, benches and firepits welcome patrons to enjoy a drink beside a gently crackling fire.
The interior of the main barroom is as elegant as the outside. The focal point is a similarly-designed horse statue in mid-trot pose with a rider on its back. The floors are made of beautifully polished darkwood, with wooden tables and barstools smattered throughout the room. A long, L-shaped bar sits at one end of the room, with an elevated stage adjacent to that for performances. A second floor overlooks the main barroom, the walls and archways are the same wood-bronze interwoven mosaic as the outside of the building. Large, circular, chain-hung braziers extend down from the ceiling.
Tourism
The Inn receives a moderate flow of guests throughout the course of the year, typically travelers, business folk and adventurers passing through. Certain holidays throughout the year create more business for the Inn, and vacancies are harder to come by.
