Session 17

General Summary

14th Day of Julista

The party left the island of Ulympius upon the Swift Valkaria headed back to Vexlorn . On the way however, the ship was anchored by a heavy and thick fog. While waiting for the unusual weather to burn off, their ship was rammed and attacked by an unknown assailant. The party rushed to the deck to fight off the attackers, who just so happened to be undead pirates; possibly raised from Davy Jones' locker. A dangerous, but timely fireball helped the party make quick work of the undead group; although not before Dirt edged close once again to Kelemvor, God of Death 's grasp.
The attacking ship's leader was apprehended, and it turned out to be a former sailor upon the Grey Deck; Balthazar 's former ship and crew. However, this man named Paldre; bore the mark of Myrkul, The Bone God and Patron of Necromancy and did not fear death. Before sending him to a sailors death in the depths below, Paldre revealed he had been directed by a "young man with black eyes". With the threat thwarted, the party and Swift Valkaria returned to Vexlorn.

15th Day of Julista

Returning late; the party made a beeline for the The Academy of Arcanium to grab their coin, and hopefully have the two new items found in Ulympius identified by their new best friend, Isabeau Forrester . The Archprovost thanked the party for their effort retaking the fortification, and hoped the coin would buy their silence on what they had learned was stored there. Isabeau returned to them saying she could not figure out the purpose of the items, but that they were pulsating a necrotic aura and were probably utilized in necromancy. The party then split up to end the day following up on personal tasks.
Balthazar relaxed at the spa; where Vellorna Collerne asked him to bring the party back to and Sandro wandered the streets unsure what direction the events were pulling him. Dirt however, with the amulet of Shar in hand final gained access to the inner sanctum where he hoped to meet the Sisters of Shadow . He met the leader, a woman named Za'Lyn who ushered him through the initiation down the Path of the Shadow. Dirt passed a series of trials that tested the absolute limits of his mental fortitude, and through strength of mind, he persevered. At the other end he meet and talked with the vestige of Shar, Goddess of Darkness and Loss who advised Dirt to use his power gained through loss to make the changes in the world he strove for.
After rendezvousing back at the Marshall's Rest Inn; Balthazar relayed the message to meet at Fortunes Warmth. But before they headed out the owner of the Inn passed along a letter from Kerelei . In it Kerelei said she knew what was going to happen, but needed to do it to get what she wanted. She insisted Desmond was hers to kill.
While on the way to Fortune's Warmth they were stopped by a striking looking man who asked them a question, "if the world was about to end, how would the party spend their last few days?". As with most characters the party has met, they instantly disliked them, but they did humor the man by answering his quarry. The learned, according to him, the souls of this plane were being called to greater cause, and therefore this plane must cease to exist. His last piece of wisdom was advising the party to retreat from the path they were unknowingly heading down. But, before he left, he pulled down his glasses revealing black eyes. Not too long after, Norah showed up and told the party to stay clear of the man. For he was her brother; Sebastian , and he leads their fellow siblings in carrying out many of the disruptive schemes happening around Primrose. As a show of trust she pulled down her hood revealing her own black eyes.
At Fortune's Warmth they met with Pelmenous Fortune. He had some updates about various personal items, such as the Jade Hand 's presence in Perfume Bay as well as Desmond's status as a fugitive in hiding. The main purpose of the meeting was to ask the party to head to Wuhrmount College to handle another perplexing situation at a ruin. Much like Ulympius, the site had gone dark, and their expertise was needed to find out what happened, and more importantly, take down the culprits involved.
