Divine Laws
Also known as the Gods' Laws. These laws govern the godhood, how to achieve it, how to lose it and how to use it. Not all are known to the mortals, as this would grant them too much power of the Gods. Those that are known are enough to understand the nature of gods (even if it is only on a mortal thinking level). Overgod is the god that takes care that the laws are abided by, if there is no Overgod, the laws are upheld by other gods. Once a True God achieves the status of Overgod they can either add a new law or change/remove an existing one. Vecna was able to achieve this and created his own law (Law of Vecna).
The Laws
- No two or more gods shall share the same Portfolio.
- A Greater Deity can have up to five Portfolios.
- Intermediate Deities must have at least 3 Portfolios to maintain their rank.
- Lesser Deities must have at least 1 Portfolio to maintain their rank
- Once a Deity loses their rank, they become a Demigod.
- Gods gain and lose their powers based on their worshippers.
- A mortal can worship any number of gods but only one is his true patron.
- A god that denounces his divinity cannot return to it.
- Each god can create an Afterlife for their followers.
- Greater Deities are the only gods to have constellations and stars.
- Only a Greater Deity can have an Exarch.
- Gods can communicate with their followers only with metaphors, dreams, and visions. Their interpretation is the sole choice of their free will.
- Gods can communicate fully with mortals in their own plane.
- Faith is power.
- Ideas can become Divine Concepts. Divine Concepts can become Divine Theories.
- Objects can become Idols.
- Only Deities can grant Paladin powers.
- Law of Vecna: Gods that appear as Avatars on the mortal plane are the full personification of their being, their death means the death of the deity.
