Arthur Crolly
Profile
Arthur was an eccentric, rich changeling who was a part of the magic item smuggling ring. He was obsessed with the thought of having his own private zoo, so much so that he was willing to turn people into animals to make it a reality. Arthur was known for their opulent mansion filled with very gaudy décor, and often threw many parties to show off their wealth. Arthur would often change his appearance at these parties to hide in plain sight, which gave him the reputation of having eyes and ears everywhere. Due to an extreme fear of werewolves, Arthur was often seen wearing obscene amounts of silver jewelry.
Relationships
The Party
Arthur was hoping to turn the party into the newest exhibit in their own personal zoo, but was quickly foiled by their meddling. The team destroyed Arthur's statue, which he appeared to have somehow bound his soul to, and this caused Arthur to turn into a pile of dust.Randall Bordin and the smuggling ring
Randall somehow came into possession of an orb of polymorph, an item Arthur coveted for its ability to make his dream of owning an entire zoo into a reality. Arthur had Newton Crumleysend Randall death threats in an attempt to acquire the orb. Randall was later seen at Arthur's masquerade, and reportedly had suffered a great financial loss at the hands of the changeling; apparently, Arthur had somehow made away with both the orb and Randall's money in exchange for sparing the man's life.Lupin Raoul
Lupin was investigating Arthur due to a string of mysterious disappearances that seemed to have ties to them and their associates. By the end of Arthur's masquerade, it became clear that all of the missing persons cases had been solved when the orb of polymorph was smashed and the animals in Arthur's zoo reverted to their original humanoid forms.Plot Events
"The Bordin Honeypot Scheme"
Arthur was not present at Randall's mansion, but was mentioned in the letter from Newton Crumley."A Magical Ball ~ or ~ Partying Like Animals"
After receiving the orb of polymorph from Randall (along with most of Randall's money), Arthur used it to turn people into animals, which he then kept in his backyard. The "zoo" did not provide enough space for any of the animals that Arthur had been holding captive, and many of them seemed to be in distress when the party arrived to attend Arthur's masquerade ball.Arthur used their changeling powers to disguise themselves as various party guests throughout the evening, keeping an eye on the party and another meddling investigator. Unbeknownst to the party and Lupin, Arthur had laid clues all about his mansion to lure them to the room where the orb of polymorph was kept, with the intention of turning them all into animals.
When the party broke their way into Arthur's private study, they found the orb and a statue in the shape of Arthur. Upon touching the orb, all but one of the members of the party (and Lupin, who had been guarding the door) shifted into the animal forms of the masks they were wearing. Arthur then appeared in the doorway, attempting to subdue the animals using a magical ring and deal with the remaining two humanoids.
The final standing party member smashed the orb, reverting the rest of the party (and the animals outside) to their original forms, while Lupin held Arthur down (despite the fact that Arthur was covered from head to toe in silver jewelry). Attacking Arthur directly left him entirely unharmed, but left blemishes on the statue, so the party decided to break the statue into pieces. Upon sufficient damage being dealt to the statue, both it and Arthur crumbled to dust.
