The War of Revelations

The War of Revelations is the deadliest war in human history nearly ending in their extinction. It is also a continuation of one of the oldest conflicts in existence, The Heavenly Civil War.

Before the War

During Lucifer’s imprisonment Demons had begun to care for humanity, most Demons were human after all. Was humanity flawed? Yes, they were proof of that but they didn’t deserve to be killed for them. So when Lucifer was freed from his eternal prison by the Demons of Longview and he returned to Hell they lied to their king in the hopes that he would end his crusade if he thought humanity had turned a new leaf during his absence.
However these lies would come to light after the second world war when Lilith, princess of Hell and the mother of all Demons, returned to Hell after hearing the news about Lucifer’s return. The Demons who lied to him were killed for their crimes and their bodies were hung from the gallows of Sanguis Argo for all to see, a reminder to never cross their king again. After all he had an army to train for battle and he didn’t have the time for lies and treachery.

The Willows Witches & The Draylian

Meanwhile in Heaven, Micheal had heard about the news of his brother’s return but he wasn’t too worried yet. Lucifer was still severely wounded from his battle with Micheal and it would be centuries before he fully healed. They had time to prepare for war and protect humanity. There was no need for panic.
However there may have been some need for panic as Heaven, and thus Micheal, were unaware that there was a way for Lucifer’s wound to heal faster. The Soul of a Willow Witch, a descendent of Merlin, was all that was needed. As their souls were one of the most powerful magic sources in the universe outside of a god or angel. Most humans only had a blood magic ratio of around 25% but a willow witch’s blood magic ratio was similar to that of a demon, around 90-95%. Causing some issues as they were effectively demigods and divine warriors without the invulnerability that came with that title.
However due to factors perviously stated elsewhere a willow witch hadn't been seen on Earth ever. Or so they thought. As it turns out some magical creatures remained on earth after the War of Ashes, a war that result in Merlin sending his people to the planet Majjia light years away. Those who stayed behind had created a governeing Council of Dray and went into hiding. Using magic to avoid the gaze of both Heaven and Hell for years in order to live peaceful lives on what they considered to be their home planet.
It wasn't until the early 1990s that both Heaven and Hell were made aware of the existence of the draylain left behind and their willow witches. In 1992 the reincarnations of Yin and Yang meet a young draylian psychic named Tessa Silvermoon. Tessa was a willow witch with the ability to see the future and had warned the goddesses that Lucifer was planning to go through with his plan despite being injured. This would have blindsided Heaven if they didn't stop or at least slow down Lucifer in time.
The three of them along with the help of Tessa's cousins, Lotus and Charlotte Black and her future husband Levi Deathly slowed down Lucifer's plan but at the cost of Yin and Yang's life. However this set back did not keep Lucifer down for long because in 2002 he managed to strike a deal with a young willow witch named Midnight Hellfire.

Midnight Hellfire

Midnight Hellfire was born in Salem, Massachusetts to Lisa and Andrew Hellfire in 1990. However just five years later tragedy would strike on September 7, 1995 when Midnight’s parents died in a mysterious car crash. After the fact Midnight was sent to live with her Aunt Loria and Uncle Chris Lewis. Lori and Chris would go on to have two children while Midnight was in their care her cousins, Chloe and Nicholas Lewis, born in ‘95 and ‘97 respectively. And while Lori and Chris loved their children they hated Midnight, she was weird and strange and could never seem to do anything right in their mind.
Midnight, like so many children, had dreams of being a star; she didn’t want to be forced to do all her cousins’ chores for the rest of her life. She wanted to be famous, popular, and loved. Then on a random day in 2002 while scrolling through some random forums on her family’s computer she found an ad for a talent agent named Luther Solace looking to manage girls around her age. But Midnight was skeptical; she didn’t know who this guy was. How could she even be sure he was who he said he was.
Then she saw him in the newspaper the next day and called him immediately because it had to be fate. Something like this didn’t happen often. While on the phone with Luther she’s honest and tells him she isn’t sure if her aunt and uncle would let her see him and really sorry for wasting his time but she saw him in the paper and she just-

Midnight remembered Luther chuckling at that, his voice deep and warm like hot chocolate or tea. “Yes really” he said and this next part made Midnight’s heart skip a beat “you seem like such a good girl and we can’t have you being punished for something that isn’t your fault now can we”

Midnight and Chloe was signed to Luther Solace within the week and a few months later they were cast in a Nova Studios’ original tv show called Catacosmic. Midnight was cast as Cat Ellis, a young super star living in L.A with her fun loving Aunt Hope. While Chloe was casted as Chloe Ellis, Cat’s younger sister.
Catacosmic proved to be a success and Midnight got her wish, she was a superstar like the character she played. And to make it even better while on the set of Catacosmic she learned she could use magic and about her status as a Willow Witch from Luther. By the time she was 15 Midnight and her agent Luther were ██████████████████████████████████████████████████████
The next year Midnight found out Luther was in fact Lucifer, the devil and king of Hell. And because ██████████████████████████████████ he offered her another deal. All the power in the world for her eternal servitude and loyalty. Midnight accepted because ██████████████████████████████████████████████████████████
In 2007, when Midnight was 17, Catacosmic ended and she was signed to Warlock Records. By the next year she was attending real music award shows like the VMAs. She was even bigger than before with each of her albums going double platinum. It was all a dream come true. How could life get any better? What could possibly happen to make all this go south?

The Grace Murders

On June 6, 2011 Lucifer forced Midnight into killing her entire family, her cousin Chloe Lewis was the only survivor. Midnight remembered it all. She remembered sobbing as repeated over and over again that she was so, so, so, sorry. She didn’t want to do this. He was making her do this. Please stop, I don’t want to hurt them, please-
She doesn’t remember what happened after that but Lucifer does because later that same night Midnight was forced into killing one of his old enemies. Charlotte Black now Charlotte Grace and her husband Dean Grace. The couple’s two young children Katelyn Grace, age 10, and Kira Grace, age 5, were the only survivors. A few days later Midnight would be found hanging from the top of Warlock Records HQ in Hollywood, California on June 9th, 2011. Later that same year on November 13th Lucifer would order one of his Demons to kill Tessa Silvermoon, now Tessa Deathly.

The Grace Sisters

In early 2012 just a few months after Tessa’s death Lucifer would hear her final prophecy. It foretold that one of the Grace Sisters would be instrumental in creating the circumstances of his downfall. If you know anything about villains and prophecies you know that the first thing they do is attempt to kill the subject of it outright. However Lucifer was different, he never did anything without first weighing his options so instead he sent one of his Demons to keep an eye on them by having it possess the girls’ aunt Tina Black.
It was only after he got wind that Katelyn Grace was going to commit suicide that he decided to check on the Grace Sister. He was horrified by what he saw. They had been severely abused by his demon and it angered him. He had ordered the thing to keep an eye on them, not do something so horrific to them. But what was done was done so he might as well kill three birds with one stone.
He would let Katelyn kill herself and if she chickened out he would send Akeldama and a few of his Demons to make sure she finished the job. He would kill the god forsaken demon who did this and kill little Kira to leave no loose ends. However no matter how hard he looked he couldn’t find her. Unfortunately for him, Lotus Black now Lotus Love-Heart had placed a spell on the girl hiding her from his sight. Leaving Lucifer no choice but to carry on with his plans and wait for Kira Grace to reveal herself.

The War

About 2 years later on December 15, 2018 Lucifer launched his first attack against Humanity, marking the onset of the War of Revelation. The target: the capital of the United States of America, Washington D.C. The devastation wrought by this attack was catastrophic, resulting in the emergence of fractures, cracks in the very fabric of reality, splitting the city into two.
The attack on Washington D.C forced the United States to move their capital to New York City. The government would never be able to recover the city as the areas surrounding the fractures were too unstable and inhospitable.
The destruction of Washington D.C. triggered widespread panic globally. The United States saw a drastic surge in homelessness as thousands were displaced from their homes. Media coverage of the attack dominated airwaves for weeks, inundating viewers with images of demonic rampages through the city. The event prompted profound existential debates about the existence of Heaven and Hell and the broader supernatural realm.
In the aftermath, individuals sought solace and guidance through faith, leading to a revival of religious institutions such as the Catholic Church. However, this resurgence also fueled religious tensions and conflicts as diverse belief systems clashed over interpretations of the event. Some questioned their faith in the face of such tangible evidence of the supernatural, prompting a reevaluation of religious beliefs and spiritual practices on a global scale.
The attack on the U.S capital led to significant political repercussions. Government officials faced intense scrutiny and criticism for their handling of the crisis, and debates about national security and preparedness dominated political discourse. The Council of Dray, the governance of the draylian people, were forced to come out of hiding and reveal the existence of magic and mythic creatures such as Dragons, elves, and Unicorns causing even more panic across the globe.
Many countries across the globe such as China, Russia, and France bolstered their military and supernatural defense capabilities. Establishing specialized units trained to combat demonic forces and investing heavily into research developing weapons and technology that could be used effectively against supernatural beings. Grassroots resistance movements emerged among ordinary citizens who refused to cower in fear. These groups used their newfound knowledge of the supernatural, alongside tech they stole from the government, to protect their communities.
Nations worldwide were pressured into cooperating on an unprecedented scale. Diplomatic efforts intensified as countries across the globe formed alliances and shared intelligence regarding the supernatural threat posed by Lucifer and his army. International organizations such as the United Nations held special meetings to address the crisis. In many nations, martial law was declared to keep the peace. Civil liberties are curtailed, and curfews are imposed to prevent unauthorized contact with supernatural entities or involvement in resistance movements. By the end of 2019 billions of people’s lives were negatively impacted by The Loss of D.C.
In the wake of the attack on Washington D.C, Michael convened an urgent council of Archangels and representatives from various religious pantheons in the Heavenly Citadel on the second level of Heaven. At the meeting, the council reviewed intelligence reports, listened to eyewitness accounts, and deliberated on potential strategies to address the fractures in D.C. By the end of the meeting, it became clear to all everyone present that Lucifer had grown significantly more powerful, posing a grave threat not only to Earth but also to the delicate balance of the cosmos.
Throughout the rest of the year the Archangels continued to discuss potential strategies to defend against Lucifer's impending onslaught. They considered reinforcing the gates of Heaven, establishing celestial defense perimeters around key locations, and deploying angelic forces to protect vulnerable areas on Earth. Recognizing the gravity of the situation Micheal reached out to other gods and supernatural entities that existed in the universe. He sent emissaries and ambassadors to make diplomatic overtures to these powerful beings. He even tried to contact his father to no avail.
Michael and the other archangels began recruiting and training angelic warriors for the impending battle. Special units were formed, and Angels underwent intensive combat training, as well as education on the nature of Demons and Lucifer's tactics. Heaven's armory was unlocked, revealing powerful divine artifacts and celestial weapons, each with unique abilities and attributes. These artifacts were distributed among angelic warriors.
All of this came to a head on May 1, 2020, when Lucifer launched a devastating attack on London. In contrast to the swift assault on D.C., this battle raged on for an entire month. Ultimately, Lucifer emerged victorious, seizing control of the city and prompting thousands of residents to flee in search of refuge elsewhere.
With Lucifer in control of the city it descended into chaos, with the remaining population facing harsh living conditions, food shortages, and a lack of basic necessities. The city’s infrastructure crumbed seemingly overnight and diseases spread quickly in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. Lucifer’s regime imposed strict laws and curfews on the population and the city was divided into zones with each under the control of a power demon.
But humanity was, as always, resilient and adaptable in the face of adversity as resistance movements, consisting of ordinary citizens, supernatural beings, and Angels who had infiltrated the city, spread like wildfire.
News of London’s fall sent shockwaves across the globe. Other nations and supernatural entities closely monitored the situation, considering it a dire warning of Lucifer's power and intentions. Governments intensified their supernatural defense efforts and collaborated with Heaven on a global scale. Heaven launched a counterattack on the city that failed due to Lucifer’s tight control over the city. For the next decade, Heaven and earth tried and failed to reclaim the city, and more cities such as Rome, Dubai, Moscow, Amsterdam, Madrid, Sydney, and Shanghai fell.
Entire countries would simply vanish overnight and billions of people would die but just when all hope seemed lost a phoenix rose from the ashes.
Project Noctis created by Dr. Kira Grace and Dr. Alexander Noctis was the light at the end of the tunnel, the hope the world needed. End of The War

After the creation of the Noctis, The Black Roses military branch was founded in 2040 by Octavia Jones, Dr Kira Grace, and Dr. Alexander Noctus. That same year The Black Roses would reclaim London and by 2045 would push back Lucifer’s forces back to the gates of Hell, ending the war in a stand still.

After The War

After the war officially ended in 2046, Dr. Kira Grace, Dr. Alexander Noctis, and Octavia Jones advocated for the autonomy of The Black Roses, seeking to establish it as an independent entity distinct from global governance. This move aimed to enhance its effectiveness in serving the broader interests of humanity. They wanted to make sure that no government could use The Black Roses as leverage against another nation.
Their efforts faced significant opposition, primarily led by the United States of America. However, despite the pushback, they ultimately succeeded in securing the autonomy of The Black Roses. This newfound freedom allowed the organization to operate according to its own principles and objectives. Nonetheless, it also precipitated considerable tension between governmental authorities and The Black Roses.
Numerous nations initiated propaganda initiatives designed to discredit The Black Roses, utilizing various methods to sow doubt among the public regarding the organization's integrity. However, the situation escalated when the United States implemented discriminatory measures targeting both The Black Roses and the Noctis species. These actions aimed to coerce the organization into reliance on government support and funding. The U.S. enacted legislation curtailing the rights of Noctis citizens, effectively depriving them of fundamental liberties.
Despite the enactment of such laws, The Black Roses remained resilient. Their unique position as the sole organization combating Demons and employing Noctis individuals ensured their continued relevance and effectiveness.
In the same year that The Black Roses gained independence, Dr. Kira Grace established the academies with the aim of training the next generation of humanity's protectors. There are five academies spread across the globe, each situated on a major continent except Antarctica and Australia. These include Lazarus in North America, Artemis in South America, Athena in Europe, Jade Emperor in Asia, and Menhit in Africa. Following their establishment, Kira was elected as the Director of The Black Roses, with Alexander leading the Science Department, and Octavia overseeing the Intelligence Department. Lion Love-Heart, Kira's cousin, conceptualized the design for The Black Roses headquarters, dubbed Chrysanthemum, in 2046. However, it wasn't until 2051 that the construction of the complex was finalized. Situated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the complex was strategically placed to establish neutral territory, ensuring that no single government could exert full control over The Black Roses.

The United Kingdom

In the aftermath of the war, the United Kingdom embarked on a rigorous effort to rebuild London, focusing on restoring essential utilities, repairing infrastructure, and clearing debris from the devastated areas. Humanitarian organizations mobilized to provide critical aid, including shelter and medical assistance, to the survivors. Gradually, a new sense of law and order was reinstated, with the United Kingdom reclaiming authority over the city. However, the process of recovery was arduous, spanning well over a decade before London.

The Walls, Deadzones & The War of Revelations Museum and Memorial

In 2047, fortified walls were erected around every major city worldwide. These walls were manned by a combination of military personnel and members of The Black Roses’ army known as Demon Slayers. Regions beyond these walls were designated as Deadzones, restricted areas accessible only to authorized military and Black Roses personnel. In 2050, The Black Roses introduced the Hyacinth Trains, a network of trains operated by the organization, facilitating civilian travel within the Deadzones.

R.O.M.A.N

The Research and Operations for Molecular Advancements Network, or R.O.M.A.N for short, was a secret government agency specializing in genetic modification created during the cold war by the US. During the over 60 years it was operational R.O.M.A.N experimented with many different test subjects but its most infamous and well-known test subjects were human children under a project known as Operation Genesis.
Operation Genesis was created in 1967 just a few years after the creation of R.O.M.A.N and involved kidnapping human children to experiment on to create superhuman weapons. It was first founded due to the C.I.A receiving false intel about Russia performing human experiments to create living weapons. However by the time the C.I.A realized the intel was false they had a breakthrough with the project and decided to keep it.
The discovery of Merlinus Aboesco, a magical residue coating human D.N.A, marked a profound turning point. While the US government had long been aware of magic's existence, they understood that humans possessed a naturally low blood-to-magic ratio, rendering them non-magical beings. However, through rigorous experimentation, they uncovered that Merlinus Aboesco held the potential to amplify humans' magical aptitude via selective procedures, granting them formidable magical powers.

Following this breakthrough, Operation Genesis surged forward. Yet, shortly after its initiation, scientists encountered a crucial realization: the complete potential of Merlinus Aboesco could only be unleashed in subjects at a young age. Head scientist Dr. Joseph Wright pinpointed the ideal window for experimentation to commence at around 3 or 4 years old. Additionally, a larger-than-average quantity of Merlinus Aboesco was deemed necessary to increase the likelihood of success in these endeavors.
After that R.O.M.A.N began kidnapping children from across the globe and experimenting on them. They collected hundreds of children in a span of a few decades. Only around 1/16 of them would survive.
Around 1990, Dr. John Mercy assumed leadership of Operation Genesis, instigating its sister initiative, Project Odyssey. This subdivision of Operation Genesis was specifically engineered to address and rectify the issues inherent within the original project.
Among the many children ensnared by R.O.M.A.N for Project Odyssey was Octavia Jones, a young girl born in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 3, 2003. Raised by her mother, Grace Jones, who had overcome a history of addiction for the sake of her daughter, Octavia enjoyed a modest family life with her mother, aunt Ava, and cousin Isabella. However, at the tender age of 3, Octavia was abducted by R.O.M.A.N and transported to Testing Lab 16 in Silver Pine, Arizona. While there Octavia would be subjected to extreme unending cruelty in the name of science and progress but should also make lifelong friends like Alexander Wilson.
At the age of 16, Octavia was assigned her first solo mission: infiltrate and eliminate journalist Karen Felton, who possessed sensitive information deemed threatening by the organization. To execute this directive, Octavia assumed the guise of a typical student and enrolled in a conventional school—a novel experience for her. Her objective was to befriend Karen's son, Zachary Felton, and leverage this connection to execute the mission.
Octavia unexpectedly found herself developing genuine feelings for Zach, drawn to his kindness, charm, and shared passion for music. He became one of the few individuals outside of her test subject cohort to extend genuine kindness to her, and she deeply valued his friendship. Similarly, Octavia formed a fondness for Zach's mother, Karen, making it inconceivable for her to carry out the mission of harming her or her son. Faced with conflicting loyalties, Octavia made the daring decision to defect from the organization rather than betray the trust and compassion she found outside its confines.
Assisted by two local allies, Kira Grace and Alexander Noctis, Octavia and Zach orchestrated the downfall of R.O.M.A.N in the spring of 2024. Yet the victory was tinged with sorrow, as it came at the ultimate price: the loss of Zach's life.

Project Noctis

After the downfall of R.O.M.A.N., Kira and Alexander immersed themselves in Dr. Mercy's research. However, it wasn't until six years later, in 2030, that they felt ready to validate their theories and initiate experiments based on his findings. Their hypothesis centered on the fusion of demon and human DNA, suggesting that their structural resemblance could facilitate the emergence of a distinct species. This endeavor was dubbed Project Noctis.
Their hypothesis would be proven correct in 2035, a mere five years later, as they successfully engineered the world’s first half-demon, half-human hybrid. These creatures were called the Homo Demona Noctis and completely changed the outcome of the war. They were the key to reclaiming all that was lost.

Long Term Effects

The aftermath of the war reshaped societal structures worldwide. With The Black Roses gaining independence and assuming a prominent role in safeguarding humanity, a redistribution of power occurred on the global stage. Governments found their influence diminished in certain domains, while The Black Roses emerged as a significant player in international affairs, wielding considerable sway. Their unique status as an organization predominantly employing noctis individuals led to the provision of essential services tailored to their needs. Establishing hospitals and clinics catering specifically to noctis populations, The Black Roses filled a crucial gap left by human-run medical facilities, many of which refused to treat noctis patients.
Over time, the Noctis population continued to advocate for their rights and equal treatment and while instances of Noctis discrimination persist in contemporary society, significant strides have been made toward a more equitable environment compared to the past.
Demon Hunter, a profession under The Black Roses specialized in killing and hunting Demons, have a significant influence on art, literature, and media. They appear in various forms of entertainment, from novels to music to visual arts. The Black Roses' emblem, associated with Demon Hunters, has become a symbol of hope, protection, and defiance against supernatural threats.
Demon Hunters are invited to public events, fundraisers, and gatherings as guests of honor, highlighting their crucial contributions. They are frequently acknowledged in public speeches, academic discussions, and social media for their dedication to safeguarding humanity and many Demon Hunters are actively involved in community outreach, charity work, and advocacy, further endearing them to the public. Demon Hunters are seen as celebrities in the eyes of the public and thus have merch and fan clubs dedicated to them.
Dr. Alexander Noctis' leadership in the science department of The Black Roses resulted in significant technological advancements. These innovations were not only beneficial to The Black Roses but also had broader applications in fields such as medicine, energy, and defense.
The establishment of city walls and the presence of military personnel and Black Roses' forces outside these walls led to long-term changes in security and defense strategies. Nations adopted a more vigilant stance against potential threats, both human and supernatural. The combination of fortified cities, Black Roses' protection, and international cooperation to prevent another global catastrophe helped to increase geopolitical stability. Nations are more inclined to work together to address global challenges.
Stories, art, and literature inspired by the war became prevalent themes in society, helping to shape the collective memory of this period. Chrysant Town, a prominent Noctis community formed around the Chrysanthemum due to The Black Roses’ occupation there. Diplomatic relations with Vampire, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures that weren’t Demons were established and most of these creatures live a peaceful life among humans and noctis.
