Calacian Maw

The Calacian Maw is a very turbulent and dangerous body of water that links the channels between Panaan and The Hecatae with the wide ocean of The Great Deep. It is a place most captains will avoid, and only few vessels have ever made it safely through the huge crashing waves of the maw.
The various currents mixing together, along with a huge chain of underwater volcanoes called The Tinderbox, which pour superheated water and smoke up from the ocean floor, cause giant waves, sudden strong riptides, and whirlpools to form without warning. It's no wonder that many captains refer to this sea as the "Grinder".
