Astral Elves
People of travel, of exploration, of curiosity. The Astral Elves have forgotten their pasts and forged a new reputation and history in the Astral Sea. Explorers turned great civilizations, though the modern Astral Elves have chosen to settle, they're always on the lookout for a new adventure.
Descendants of the Pink-Pine Elves
In the mortal realm there once was a group called the Pink-Pine Elves. After a great battle, they left their home alongside a dwarven rebellion who had forsaken their kingdom and into the Astral Sea. The Pink-Pine Elves were a part of traditional wood elf culture- they would not leave their home and instead solely maintain it generation after generation- but once they left they felt no need to continue this "boring" and "slow" way of life. They instead chose to be explorers and all split up into separate corners of the universe looking for adventure and excitement.Appearance of the Astral Elves
The Pink-Pine Elves got their name from their home forests; pine trees with bark and leaves the brightest pink the Requian Coast would ever see. As wood elves, they adapted a skin the same color and texture as their surrounding trees, and as a reminder of their origins, the Astral Elves never lost the color of the pine trees (though they did leave behind that annoying bark texture). Their eyes, always looking for the new and beautiful, gained a gleam reflecting the stars of the sea of the universe, a gleam that grows greater the more excited they become.Explorers & Adventurers
Throughout their exploration and evolution, the Astral Elves slowly began to forget their past lives as the Pink-Pine Elves. Now only the most dedicated to their history even know what they were once called. It's no matter however as the Astral Elves have made their own names for themselves, becoming a culturally advanced and diverse people- their travels allowing them to collect bits and pieces of celebrations and customs from things both humanoid and alien in nature.Taming the Astral Radiance
Wood Elves have the innate ability to quickly adapt to their surroundings, reflecting them in both appearance and power. The Pink-Pine Elves adapted to the stars and worlds they explored until they no longer were Wood Elves. This evolution is what gave them the power to tame the light of the universe and use it to their benefit. Most are able to conjure a ball of light in their palms, but the most talented in their craft are able to create effective improvised weapons out of this light, and experts in the field of magic learn how to make it self-sustaining, using it in their ships that were originally designed by the dwarves who left the Mortal Realm alongside them.People of the Astral Sea
Around when the Mortal Realm entered the time of the Awakened Generation, many Astral Elves chose to settle down and quit their lives of constant adventure and danger. They've become one of the most common intelligent species in the Astral Sea as they've integrated themselves into societies and civilizations across the Barren. But as they say, old habits die hard; many traditional Astral Elf families have cemented a reputation of never staying in one place for long- creating a bias that makes it difficult for Astral Elves to achieve political positions that require them to stay in a single location for a very long time. The Fleet
The Northern Star Fleet (one of the biggest fleets of exploration vessels belonging to the Astral Elves) also decided to settle. The group was so large, however, that every settlement had denied their entry. And so, the fleet improvised. They synced up their ships to travel at the exact same speed and in the same exact direction to create a foundation for their city, one that would be built in and on top of their old ships. It commonly revolves around the same area rumored to be home of the Star Court.Estrella the Eternal
The Queen of the Astral Elves (she proclaims to be the Queen of her entire species and yet only commands those who live in the Fleet) is Estrella the Eternal, the descendant of the first to captain the scouting ship of the Northern Star Fleet. She came into contact with the Chrono-Phantasm and was blessed with eternal life. Whenever she dies she reverts back into an infant for her to be raised and rule again. Legend says that each cycle duplicates her soul, sending the one she had to the afterlife and keeping the new one to take along with her for the next go-around. She totters from tyrannical to great every few cycles, usually reflecting the state the city had become while she was too young to rule. When the city sees that she's become a less-than-great leader, they know that they've failed as a society while she was growing up again.Coming of Age
Traditional Astral Elves and the people of the Fleet force their teenagers into undergoing an exploratory journey. Most depart when they turn fifteen, some younger, very few older, and return in around ten years (or never depending on how much they like exploring).
