Mental Health and Psychological Support

The Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPS) department within the Medical Division of the Bloom Research and Scouting Corps (BRASC) is dedicated to addressing the psychological well-being and mental health needs of personnel and civilians affected by the Bloom and related challenges. Structure and Organization

Clinical Psychology Unit: This unit is staffed by clinical psychologists who provide individual and group therapy, conduct psychological assessments, and develop treatment plans for those experiencing mental health challenges.   Crisis Response Unit: This team specializes in crisis intervention and trauma care, providing immediate support during and after critical incidents. They are trained in de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care.   Training and Resilience Unit: Focused on prevention and resilience, this unit offers training programs and resources on stress management, resilience building, and psychological well-being.   Research and Development Unit: This unit conducts research on the psychological impacts of the Bloom and other stressors. They study the effectiveness of different therapeutic approaches and develop new interventions.   Outreach and Community Support Unit: This unit engages with the wider BRASC community and the public, providing education on mental health and facilitating support groups and peer counseling programs.

Mental Health Assessment and Treatment: The MHPS department conducts assessments to identify and diagnose mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other stress-related disorders. They provide treatment through counseling, therapy, and medication management.   Crisis Intervention and Trauma Care: The department offers immediate support for individuals experiencing psychological crises, including those exposed to traumatic events related to the Bloom. This includes providing on-site counseling and stabilization during emergencies.   Resilience and Stress Management Training: Recognizing the high-stress nature of BRASC's work, the MHPS department provides training and resources to help personnel develop resilience and cope with stress. This includes workshops on mindfulness, stress reduction techniques, and healthy coping strategies.   Psychological First Aid: In the wake of critical incidents, the MHPS department provides psychological first aid to affected individuals, offering immediate support and referrals to more intensive care if needed. This helps mitigate the onset of severe psychological symptoms.   Support Groups and Peer Counseling: The department facilitates support groups and peer counseling programs to provide a platform for individuals to share their experiences and support one another.
