Island Resources

All of the natural resources on the island are useful to the islanders, and are treated with care and respect.   Flora
The island is host to a cornucopia of lichens that provide natural dyes for the wool.   Fauna
The island has several unique and rare breeds of sheep, and they have been very careful never to allow cross-breeding with farmers on the mainland, knowing full well that this would compromise their famous broadcloth industry.   The Skylark is one of the island's most well-known residents.   The island's ponies came originally from the mainland, but the breed has grown hardier in the few hundred years it has been picking its way across the rocky terrain.   In addition to the more common types of catch, there are some breeds of fish in the waters around the island which are more rare elsewhere.   Weather
The weather is also a resource for the islanders: significant changes to the weather conditions can have an enormous impact on the livelihood of most island trades, since they rely so heavily on natural resources. And of course, they have not escaped the effects of global warming.
