Rights and The Law

The Council governs the laws of the island, and defends the rights of the islanders.   It consists of islanders from different groups, defined by trades but also by age, by special interest - the Council aims to be truly representative of the community.   There is an informal constitution which attempts to balance individual rights with the needs of the community.   There are laws to protect the island's natural resources, and laws to protect the island herself.   Where these have been recorded in some form, they can be found in the archive.
