Rin Eighteenth

Rin Eighteenth is a young noblewoman, previously a participant of the The Gauntlet of Mercy. She was arrested for marrying Bo and was selected especially by her aunt, Regent Sai, to participate in the games. Rin grew up in the Celestial City. As the elder child, she was engineered to be a politician and ruler. Her aunt selected her as her heir, and she educated in sorcery and the arts. During her teenage years she met and befriended Noa, who was a favourite of Sai's and working in the city as part of the Shadar-Kai. She fell in love with Bo when he was appointed as one of her bodyguards. Confident, intelligent, but often judgemental, she has approached the games with a single-minded determination to succeed and to use her pardon to leave the Empire for good, intending to escape to the west with her husband. She seems wary of Ash and cynical that his plan will work, but she does dislike the current regime. In round three, it was revealed that Rin is pregnant. Rin was voted to be excluded from the final round of the games, and is considered to have 'won' the Gauntlet. She is being kept under house arrest in the Celestial City under the orders of her brother, Zhou First.
