Season 8, Episode 4: "Open Up to You // A Confluence of Thought" Report

General Summary

Confluence guided the Dream Team through his portal, their bodies tingling uncomfortably as they entered into his arboreal Mindscape. A dominated Chad aided in the charming as they were spread out, and Lockette was pushed towards a computer clearly ripped from its original housing.   They demanded she crack it open, which she did in seconds via her powers as a Tinker, allowing Chad to take the knowledge and disappear from his father's mind — although Isra determined that they perhaps now one and the same. The data ghost of Sara No-Name began to appear in Mist's mad mind, pushing him to break free of the enchantment, but to no avail.   Then, as Confluence turned to kill the Dream Team once and for all, a small girl erupted out of the undergrowth, howling fury and vitriol at the Barathu turned demi-god. The Girl Thrice-Abandoned began to visibly waste away as she held the Hollow Blade, using its strange powers to cut away at Confluence's divinity, allowing Mist to at last break the enchantment that held down the Dream Team.
In a different forest, in a different moment, Tesin woke on the shores of death all alone — neither Skittles, Annabell, or Pharasma anywhere to be found. Seeking shelter, she decided to try and pull herself towards Night, and arrived at the shores of the River Styx.   Aggy was there, readying her boat to traverse the river, heading upstream on her hunt for the Girl Thrice-Abandoned. She considered it fate that the two had met on the shores, and agreed to take Tesin's soul with her, but warned that she shouldn't attempt to enter the Material Plane. Then the two climbed into the boat, an awkward silence heavy between them, until the mists of Mind overtook the horizon...
The party jumped into action, weaponless but still possessing of their magic and skills, just as Tesin arrived with Scythe in hand. Agatha rose into the trees — a position mirrored by Sara's ghost — and demanded that Tesin at last atone for her misdeeds. When Tesin expressed confusion Aggy flew into a rage, snarling at her queen's incompetence, and swore that she would not interfere with what fate had in store, only pass down judgement after it was done.   In a flash of a combat that could be counted in the seconds, the Dream Team tried in vain to save the Girl Thrice-Abandoned, who rebuked all their efforts to help her. She insisted that Lalantha wasn't special, and that she was just as capable of wielding the Hollow Blade, and thus able to kill a demi-god. But as a paleness spread up her neck — the same paleness of Tesin's own skin — the girl began to waver, and Confluence attempted to flee.   Seeking an opening, Lockette turned the nearby computer into slag to create a laser rifle from her nanites, and fired from her reservoir of Dragonglass. Mixed with the corruption inflicted by the Hollow Blade, the damage was too much for the Barathus that made up Confluence, and thus the great creature fell at last. But Isra and Mist both saw the lack of divinity in his corpse, and knew then that it had left with Chad — the new inheritor of Confluence's Harmonic Trinity.   However, the monster's death did not come without cost, as the Girl began to come apart into sea foam and ladybugs, and Agatha threatened to tear Tesin into pieces alongside her. But as the body died, so too did the mind, and the mindscape broke apart to reveal the darkness beneath...
