Representation & Legacy

In the ominous chronicles of Glosmordin, the name Descott Lear strikes fear deep into the hearts of those who dare to speak it. Once a fierce warrior of unmatched skill in the realm of Alcyria, Descott's path to becoming a vampire lord and the dreaded figure is a tale soaked in blood, betrayal, and the pursuit of dark power. Before his fall into undeath, Descott Lear was a renowned fighter, a commander whose prowess on the battlefield was legendary. Standing tall and broad-shouldered, his imposing frame was once adorned in battle-scarred armor, each scar telling a story of battles won and foes vanquished. His face, weathered by years of war, bore the hardened features of a man who had seen and survived the horrors of countless conflicts. His eyes, a steely grey, were sharp and calculating, always assessing the battlefield, always searching for the next threat.   Descott's strength was unmatched, his skill with a Hammer nearly unparalleled in Alcyria. His movements in combat were swift and deadly, a blur of steel and brutality that left his enemies with no chance of survival. He was a warrior in the truest sense, driven by an unrelenting will to conquer and to command. But it was this same drive that would lead to his downfall.   In his quest for ever-greater power, Descott crossed paths with a powerful necromancer called Karza who saw potential in the warrior's brutal efficiency. Through manipulation in the hopes that Descott could find his daughter through his help, Karza the necromancer transformed Descott into a vampiric servant and day walker, stripping away his humanity and binding him in eternal servitude. No longer a mere mortal, Descott's body was twisted by the dark magic that now coursed through his veins. His skin turned pale as death and his once-warm blood now ran cold with the thirst for life.   As an undead warrior, Descott Lear became an unstoppable force, his physical strength magnified tenfold by his vampiric nature. His reflexes became preternaturally sharp, his endurance unending, and his ability to regenerate from even the most grievous wounds made him nearly invincible. But perhaps most terrifying of all was his newfound ability to manipulate shadows, using the darkness itself as a weapon to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies.   For centuries, Descott served his master, his soul shackled and his will subjugated. The warrior’s once noble heart grew cold and bitter as the years of undeath and servitude wore on. Yet, deep within, a spark of his former self remained—a fierce desire for freedom, buried beneath layers of dark magic and undead compulsion. It was during this time that Aerothar, a powerful necromancer from the distant world of Glosmordin, became aware of Descott’s existence. Aerothar, always seeking new tools to further his ambitions, was intrigued by the undead warrior's strength and the dark power that coursed through him. Aerothar saw in Descott a potential ally—or weapon—that could help him in his schemes. This necromancer set his sights on summoning Descott Lear to Glosmordin, intending to bend the warrior to his will and use him to spread his influence.   Through a complex and forbidden ritual, Aerothar reached across the planar boundaries, using his necromantic prowess to pull Descott from Alcyria to Glosmordin. The ritual required immense power and precision, and it took place in the Midnight Obscura, a realm steeped in shadow and death, perfectly suited for such dark magic.   However, Aerothar's plans did not unfold as expected. The very act of summoning Descott to Glosmordin severed the undead warrior’s bonds to his original master in Alcyria. With his soul no longer shackled, Descott was freed from centuries of control. But this newfound freedom came with a price—Descott's undead nature, once contained by the necromancer’s power, now surged unchecked, amplifying his strength and dark abilities.   As Aerothar attempted to subjugate the newly arrived Descott, the vampire proved too powerful and too willful to be controlled. His centuries of servitude had honed his skills and hardened his resolve, making him a force that even Aerothar could not easily bend. In a moment of defiance, Descott broke free from Aerothar’s grasp   Descott Lear, now free from his masters control, became a terror upon the lands of Glosmordin, leading his thralls—Elijah, Radomir, Calista, and Illythia, once powerful necromancers themselves—on a campaign of conquest and bloodshed. Each of these thralls, transformed by Descott into vampires as a result of them helping Aerothar summen him, served as his most loyal and deadly followers, spreading fear and death in his name.   Yet despite his overwhelming power, Descott Lear is more than just a brute force of nature. He is a tactician, a warrior-general who uses both his mind and his might to achieve his goals. His years of experience on the battlefield made him a cunning and dangerous foe, capable of anticipating his enemies' moves and countering them with ruthless precision.   But the people of Veropia would not stand idly by as their kingdom was consumed by darkness. United under a powerful coalition of mages, warriors, and clerics, the Veropian forces launched a campaign against Descott and his thralls. The battles were fierce, with many lives lost, but the coalition fought on, determined to end the vampire lord’s reign of terror.   The final confrontation took place in the ruined city of Dalcor's Hall, where Descott and his thralls made their last stand. The coalition of Mages & Clerics, had devised a plan to banish Descott to the Midnight Obscura, the very realm that had facilitated his summoning. They believed that by using the same planar magic that had brought him to Glosmordin, they could send him back to a place where his power would be diminished. Descott, sensing the danger, fought with renewed fury, his thralls sacrificing themselves to protect their master. But the coalition was relentless. As Descott’s thralls fell one by one, the rift to the Midnight Obscura grew larger, pulling at the very fabric of reality. With a final, desperate effort, the Veropian forces pushed Descott toward the rift. Descott vowed vengeance on those who had betrayed him, his words a curse that would haunt Veropia for generations.   With a blinding flash, the rift closed, and Descott was gone—banished to the Midnight Obscura, where he would be forced to rebuild his power in the shadows. The victory came at a great cost, with many of the coalition’s finest lost in the battle, but Veropia was saved from the vampire lord’s tyranny. In the years that followed, the story of Descott Lear became a legend—a cautionary tale of the dangers of summoning forces beyond one’s control. But in the dark corners of Glosmordin, whispers of his return persisted, a reminder that shadows never truly fade.
